June 2, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – South Sudan’s Finance Minister, Athian Ding Athian and his Sudanese counterpart, Gibril Ibrahim on Wednesday discussed joint cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting also discussed economic benefits that serve the two countries based on the needs to serve the trade and exchange of products and take advantage of the crossing points that facilitate the movement of border trade, in addition to work on exchange of experiences in the field of oil.

Athian said the development of economic relations would benefit people in the two countries, calling for exchange of experiences in the development of the agricultural and forestry potentials.

"We are determined to develop the relationship that serves citizens in various fields and to exchange experiences,” he said, adding that the two sides agreed to make a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that strengthens the agreement.

For his part, the Sudanese Finance minister indicated that the economy of the two countries requires combined efforts and work for the benefit of the two countries by conducting studies to establish joint projects and activating the role of crossing points for the same interest so that goods flow easily between the two countries.

He further stressed the need to develop river transport and railways linking the two countries, as well as developing banking relations.
