Since two weeks, fierce clashes are taking place in different areas in the South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

Through this multi-front operations, the government wants to put pressure on the SPLM-N leadership to sign a declaration of principles proposed by the African Union mediation last February.

The 14th Infantry Division Deputy Commander in South Kordofan state , Mutasim Abbas, Monday vowed to carry out more attacks on the SPLM-N positions adding that SAF forces intend to "break the rebels definitively".

In a speech to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Kadugli on Monday, Abbas further stressed that the government troops take the lead on all the fronts.

From his part, the deputy director of Operation of the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) Mahgoub al-Khidir said the ongoing military operations in South Kordofan proceed as planned

"Secure the borders with South Sudan is the strategic objective of ongoing operations," added the security official.

Sudan recently closed the border with South Sudan, accusing Juba of backing the SPLM-N.
