26 killed in inter-clan attack in Lakes state: official

December 15, 2014 (RUMBEK) – At least 26 people have been killed in a revenge attack that occurred on Friday in Lakes state’s Cueibet county, an official told Sudan Tribune.

The clashes reportedly occurred between the Pagok and Pathiong clans.

“During the fight, both sides lost 26 people and 62 others were wounded,” said an officer from the state’s criminal investigation department who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Pagok, he added, carried out the attack after they suspected that its clan member and the wife were killed by a Pathiong youth.

Activists and traditional leaders blame the state government for allegedly failing to address insecurity in the region and repeated calls for the removal of caretaker governor Matur Chut Dhuol have so far been overlooked by president Salva Kiir.

Dhuol has become increasingly unpopular, with residents refusing to share information on crime-related matters with authorities.

Lake State, Salva does not care about your dying, this is not a priority to him, you need to fix up certain issues your selves, with prayers and help from God you can change some things.

Lake State killings and revenge killings are Lake State problems. No excuse, no finger pointing. The citizens of that place must recognize they are one people and there is no reason for them not to live in peace. Killings has been going before pres Kiir replaced Chol Tong; one can say he was trying to help the situation, apparently not.

If indeed it is the wishes of the people of Lake State that they don’t want Gen.Matur Chut Dhuol, why imposing him on the people? president Kiir should learn to respect will of the people.

Disapproving matur chut is one thing but revenge attack is another. Logically, I don’t see any correlation between this stupid revenge attack and matur chut incompetency. The attack goes beyond human logic. Just say u r low IQ people that don’t understand the consequences of revenge killing. Just do the math. Killing of two people has resulted into 26 more people killed. Total madness.
