September 23, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – Washington-based Satellite Sentinel Project (SSP) said today that the Sudanese army is massing heavily equipped troops to attack rebel positions in Blue Nile state.

Sudanese president last July refused to engage talks with the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) saying they have to disarm first and negotiate directly with the government without a foreign mediator.

The Sudan Armed Forces (SAF); which has been fighting the SPLM-N in Blue Nile state since September 1, said it controls the whole state except Kurmuk, the SPLM-N’s stronghold town near the Ethiopian border.

According to the SSP, Satellite images taken on 21 September reveal that 3000 SAF troops equipped with battle tanks, towed artillery, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and troop transports, are 64 kilometers from Kurmuk.

The Sudanese troops are "apparently accompanied by half a dozen Hind attack helicopters," the satellite monitoring group adds in today’s statement.

The commander of the SAF fourth infantry division in al-Damazin, Yahia Mohamed Khair on Friday inspected the front lines of the army. The general who was the Blue Nile military governor said he is determined to win the battle and clear the state of SPLM-N rebels.

The army also orchestrated a rally in the state capital on Thursday with tanks and vehicles captured during the recent fighting with the SPLM-N troops in Dandro, located 100 km away to the south of al-Damazin.

There are no perspective for political talks between the two parties as the Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zinawi filed a proposal for the two parties told hold direct talks in Addis Ababa and to reinstate the governor of Blue Nile state in his position.

In a testimony delivered at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission on Thursday, SPLM-N Secretary General Yasir Arman urged the US Congressmen to push for the imposition of a no-fly-zone in the Blue Nile Darfur and South Kordofan.

The measure implies the green light of the UN Security Council. But first efforts also needed to convince the Obama Administration to support the a no-fly-zone.

Obama’s special envoy to Sudan Princeton Lyman rejected idea saying it would lead to large military confrontation and affect more civilians in the troubled regions of Sudan.

SPLA/M North!! Which north of Republic of Sudan or RoSS? or do you simply mean former North Sudan which is an entity of its own? or you just simply don’t recognise the Republic of Sudan as an independent entity because there is no such thing called North Sudan anymore? be realistic when naming things my people!! Names always come with meanings, SPLA/M or Sudan People Liberation Army/Movement was only meaningful during the time when the late Dr John Garang claimed to be fighting or standing up for the right of the marginalised people of Sudan, the idea of new Sudan!! realistically, SPLA/M lost its meaning from the late Garang accepted the idea of so-called self-determination of south Sudanese which inevitably led to the separation of Southern Sudan leaving the marginalised even more marginalised as we are now two separate entities and whatever take place in the Republic of Sudan where the marginalised are left will be considered as pure Sudanese business and none of our business !! If SPLA/M wanted to leave the dream of new Sudan then it would not have divided the country!!

Logically, the name Spla/m NOrth or South doesn’t make any sense whatsoever because what used to be North Sudan when we were in unity has now become the Republic of Sudan and what used to be south Sudan becomes a separate country andit has been renamed as the Republic of south Sudan with SPLA/M as its army and ruling party and SPLA/M Flag as its Flag!!

So my people, what sense it makes to continue using this irrelevant name called SPLA/M North? SPLA/M needs to renamed if you want it to make sense to people of Sudan and RoSS!! otherwise it is the name without meaning!! Truly speaking, I would like to advise our beloved people of Southern Kordofan and Southern Blue Nile to abandon that pathetic and meaningless thing called SPLA/M and choose any relevant and practicable or feasible name for any party they may wish to form in line with the current political updates in their regions, move on please, no losing war please for the sake of your innocent civilians! Al Hilu and Malik are enjoying themselves in Juba while your kids are facing it all alone!!enough is enough make peace and move on please!!Sudan People Liberation Army / Movement (SPLA/M) is irrelevant even in the Republic of South Sudan as it is not appropriate any longer since when SPLA/M chose separation of southern Sudan over the unity of the country!!

May God bless Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon,

He forsaw all these events more than twenty years ago. I remember his statement since I was very young in 1996 when he said he wanted the South to get out of the war in Sudan through self-determination.

Yes on July 9 2011 we have got out of the Sudan’s stupid chronic war.

The so-called new sudan vision was not realistic. It was full of deceptions by the North, the marginalized center and the dictatorial leadership in the South by then.

Now the stupid Sudan wants to continue in war for another 50 years.

Those in the marginalized center like Nuba mountains and Blue Nile wanted to Sudan united so that they maintain fairer recognition through Islam at the expense of the South.

The South is now gone and it is up to them to fight now for another self-determination in order to get out of the stupid war, or else, another 50 years in war.

          Hello, Nyagaats

SSLA Supporter and Mi Diit may I ask you who is stupid, is it a persons who eat with dogs or a persons who eat with people? If it’s persons who eat with people than how can you compared Riek Machar with Dr John Garang? And how can you compared NCP with SPLA? This the difference between Dinka-Nuer and Dinka, because Dinka-Nuer can’t listen. All the right are cut out. Dr John Garang was fought for freedom for South Sudan. However South Sudan was very small to handle the North then He created New Sudan to get Support from those of Blue Nile, Nubia Mountain and Darfur. After Riek seen that food is not coming then he went to Khartoum to sign food with Bashir and left people in front line. Now where is the food Riek sign with Bashir? If Dinka left war like Dinka-Nuer, do you think you can talked on this web now? Shame on you nothing good from Dinka-Nuer except been stupid, go with you Riek and Gatdat food lover.

        @ Dhaiya

It is indeed, the rivers and bushes of the South Sudan are filled with the blood and bones of Nubian sons and daughters during the post long war. Absolutely that factual facts can’t be denied. Your mutual contributions would not be forgetton.

Notably, it wasn’t our plan as Southerners to excluded you from gaining the same independence which we are currently enjoying but throught IGAD and an international communities efforts you were excluded from South due to geographical dimension although our objectives, visions as well as our political ideologies were categorically the same since then up to the present time and that is the reason why the Khartoum oppressive government doesn’t want the SPLM party remain as a political organ in their government, otherwise we were not happy to leave you at the lion jaws and running for a safety place, that wasn’t the reason but IGAD and an international communities.

Back to your outcry, your fallen comrades didn’t died in-vain as far as your inputs concern. Their death shall still yield you some fruitful hope in the future as you are now struggling to liberate your territorial places from Bashir’s government. Hopefully, it is my utmost dream that the same IGAD and an international communities will still have their say when time arrive. However, we as Southerners shall make sure to continue rendering any possible asisstance to your entire citizens.

Don’t forget that our relationship is still vital as it was being spelt in the SPLM/A manifesto, our thoughts, objectives, visions and political issues are still the same though you and I don’t see them practically but our politcal leaders knows what we don’t, we won’t forget you and blue Nile people and that mean Almighty God won’t ask us as why we forget you.

God bless Nubian and Blue Nile people.
