Information minister affirms Sudan keenness to maintain distinguished ties with Chad

KHARTOUM, My 10, 2004 (SUNA) — The Minister of Information, Al-Zahawi Ibrahim Malik, has affirmed Sudan keenness to maintain its distinguished relations with sister Chad, and to work for removing any impacts of violations in Darfir against Chad.

Malik called, in a press statement after his meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Monday, for avoiding any friction between two countries at the joint border area, so as to abort the conspiracies of enemies.

He said that he got acquainted by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs on the flow of humanitarian aid to the affected people in Darfur, prevalence of services there and the return of displaced citizens to their home areas in Darfur.

Meanwhile, the minister denied existence of impediments that confront the peace talks between the government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) at Naivasha, Kenya, adding that it is normal that some issues be given more chance of negotiation by the two parties.

Malik said that the stay of the First Vice – President at Naivasha for more than two months proved the government seriousness to achieve a final and just peace in Sudan.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs has affirmed the continuity of the return of displaced citizens to their home areas in Darfur.

He referred to the influx of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Darfur after the visit of the Deputy Secretary General of Al-Maktoum Charity Institution of the UAE.
