South Sudan ruling party accuses NCP of backing Athor uprising

By Julius N. Uma

May 16n 2010 (JUBA) — Renegade General George Athor Deng’s recent uprising against the Southern government should not be viewed as a post-election issue, but a plot by the Khartoum regime to disrupt South Sudan’s preparations for the forthcoming referendum, Mr. Pagan Amum, the SPLM Secretary General has said.

At a media briefing held at the party’s Southern Sector Secretariat on Saturday, Mr. Amum said his party had secured credible information that the National Congress Party (NCP) was fully backing Gen. Athor and forces loyal to him.

Asked to substantiate further on the NCP’s alleged involvement, the SPLM Secretary General said the party’s [SPLM] intelligence report strongly link the renegade General’s rebellion to the Khartoum regime’s continuous trends of providing logistical and financial support to “enemies” of Southern Sudan.

Mr. Amum’s remarks comes just days after his involvement in an African Union consultative meeting, during which he reportedly told delegates in attendance that the Southern government would not accept any form of negotiations aimed at delaying the referendum date.

According to the SPLM Secretary General, the entire African continent as well as members of the international community have embarked on a coordinated effort to ensure that Sudan’s referendum, a key requirement of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement, is not only a peaceful, free and fair, but also a smooth transition that respects the right and interest of all concerned citizens.

Analysts, however, contend that for the 2011 referendum to succeed as planned, the Southern semi-autonomous government must find quick remedies towards resolving prevailing scores of post-election uprisings, discontent as well as tribal conflicts among citizens.

Tension is already mounting after General Athor reportedly warned civilians to vacate Bor, the Jonglei state capital, prior to fresh attacks on government forces.

On Friday, five members of Sudan’s People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) were reportedly killed in the fourth attack carried by forces loyal to renegade General.

SPLA spokesperson, Kuol Diem Kuol confirmed the incident, saying the attack involved an ambush on an army truck in Koliet, Northern Jonglei.

"The SPLA soldiers managed to fire back. The fighting killed five from the forces loyal to Athor...but others were injured," Kuol was quoted saying.

The trend continues either for the worse or for the best. People who want to get rich solely like Lam Akol, former defector Traitor Riak Machar and now Gen. Athor Deng have always head to Khartoum. The folks I am mentioning are still living, however, almost 90% of the flock have lost their lives without achieving what they were aiming for. Gen. Athor’s destiny could fall under either scenerio here. He may die probably with others like his past colleagues, or he may come back like Traitor Riak or Lam to eat his vomits when his honeymoon days are over with Bashir and his Khartoum gangs.

        Thanks to You Kiir Mayar

It is good to give Athor the opportunity to come back.
Nobody will blame you in the future when brother Athor’s fate become bleak due lack of his willingness to return before it is too late.
The way Athor talks shows that he is being driven by external factors and he seems not interested in negotiation and peace. Demands such as tearing down the GoSS are emerging from an external force. A person who advocate anarchy in the south is our true enemy hidden in our brother Athor.

Give Athor opportunity to come back but such time has to be limited. It should not be open ended. It should not pass the end of June. All options should be made clear to him and to the public including residents of his home town. Consequences for failing to come home should be availed to Athor.

Athor was our hero but if his goal is to derail the referendum and denied us we have been fighting for, then it is better to add him into the list of our dead heroes such as : Akuot Atem, Gai Tut, Kerubino Kwanyin Bol, Nyuon Bany and Arok Thon. These people were were our brothers and our heroes. They were once good to us but they pointed their guns to us and they got killed. We missed them but we are better off without them at the same time.

Angelina Teny is married to Lt. Gen. George Athor, as we speak momentarily, they are recruiting Nuer malitias and former loyalist of Riak Machar and Paulino Matip. Their aim is to try to capture the South from the SPLM/A, then traitor Riak will join them amid thier suceess. George Athor will be their leader of course and the rest of the Nuer malitias including Riak and Matip will enjoy sugar bought with oil money. Now that is kind of South Sudan we want, right Nya-witch! Liech/Bentiu’s road will be built with sugar sands..greaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

    Dear Readers,

The SPLM’s communist-unionist fanatic, Pagan De Evil Amum is fueling the already burning fire by blaming a legitimate revolt by south sudanese patriots like George Athor and others on NCP. The question should be what caused George Athor’s revolt?

It is the SPLM’s PB along with its corrupted-crooks that rigged the election on behalf of Kuol in Jonglei that pissed off George Athor. So, don’t mixed up priorities. The SPLM messed up by rigging the election in favor of its violence & war-monger leaders in Jonglei and across south sudan.

SPLM should instead has a check of reality without putting blame on NCP. Better deal with the SPLM’s foolish and idiotic election strategy that caused the popular rebellous against the SPLM among south sudanese. Pagan Amum’s idiotic and stupid theatrical accussation of NCP will not work this time.

George Athor and his forces are based in Jonglei. No south sudanese would take the SPLM intelligence seroiusly because it is the same SPLM intelligence that help rigged the election for SPLM. Pagan Amum is simply fueling the conflict among south sudanese, period.

Pagan Amum, please tell the truth. No NCP forces with Athor in Jonglei. Go figure!!!

      to all readers

this news isn’t surprising to me at all, from day one I knew NCP must be involved or have hand on Athor’s rebellion.

this is only the beginning of the NCP interfering to destroy the referendum, the signs are pointing out that, there are more to come as we approach January.

SPLA should have Plan (B) in case plan (A) doesn’t success, NCP is alway the main obsticle to the referendum, SPLA better wake up before is too late.

NCP will use everything in its power to stop the secession of the South Sudan, that’s just the fact. NCP will work days and nights to find some points of weakness in Goss to strike.

It will be so shameful if Gen. Athor who fought for 22 years slipped into NCP hand to sabotage referendum. the United State of America CIA last Thursday told the congress that NCP is planning to sabotage the referendum or delay by using southerners against the GOSS because the chances of unity is more unlikely and NCP has no other choices other than using southerners. The UK MI said the same thing. any fighting in the south will put referendum on hold and that is what the UN security council said last Thursday.

I hope Gen. Athor is not one of them.

This remineds me of the old Sovit Union. The trdational old communist propoganda! If the SG of the communist party had a fight with his wife inside his bed room, he will blame the American Imperialist!

Wake commorade! It is you who made this problem when you hand picked candidates against the will of the people. Now be a man and face your problems peacfully; otherwise this seems to be spreading and you are trying to find a scapegoat. If not stopped peacfully it will engulf the whole south and spill over to the north!

The NCP,Jalabba, Mundocorou or whatever do not want this to happen! At least, if not for the safty and security of people then it is for the security of the oil industry. The north or NCP wants the SPLA to rule the south as there is no other power in the south which can keep this industry safe and secure.Any disruption will ruin the economy of both the south and north. Now it seems that the SPLA POLITICAL BUREAU is failing. This going to be devastating to the whole Sudan , but mainly detremental to the south.

Nobody in the north have any illusion about unity,.The Jalabba, Arabs, Mundocorou do not want unity , they are fed up, we hope and pray to god that you remain peacful and secure. We do not want you to have any problem. It is not in the best of our national interest. You want to secede, you are most welcome and we wish heartedly ,the best.As long as the south remains peaceful, stable and seure we are more than very happy!

The NCP is ready and very well prepared for secession, they are accepting it and had FULLY prepared themselves to live without the south ;even to deal with the anticipitated chaos and the spillover from the borders! They are not sleeping. What you are hearing is just political rehtoric for the local consumption, they will work very hard for unity but they are convienced 100% that it is not going to happen! That is your choice, we do not have anything to regret! We have learned to depend upon ourselves and protect our sovrignity and national interst.Enjoy depending upon others!

I wonder why you think you will be favoured by the west out of all Africans?!In the past it was to destroy your country and weaken it, now it is going to be different story and you will get pea nuts!

            Dear readers,

I like pretending myself while iam from Nyamnyam. I go with Mohamed Ali on this website. I knew nothing about SG Pagan Amum because i just start knowing him just in 2005 when i get out from my hidding place especially when i was in Uganda. The only people who can know this name madokuru are nyamnyam/dor because the arab doesn,t know it at all. The name was drive from Juba arabic. Iam shallow minded because i hate SPLM- the party and the breathe of South Sudanese. I hope i will be the human creature in the time to come so that i can stop calling SPLM acommunist party because now SPLM is ademocratic country now and in the near future after referendum.
Godbless those who can not buy my flimsy arguments on this net while iam a south Sudanese wh like to prostitute myself with Arab.

    Hi blank brains,
According to my imagination, there will be an illumination of the truth in the South since General Athor Deng Dut spoke out loudly in Jonglei after he saw blank men drive their government without knowing to establish the realties in the South. There are a lot of huge corruptions in Jonglei since governor Kuol took his governorship by force when he appointed to represent his people in Khratuom without obeying the rights of Jonglei citizens. He does not address the issues facing his state since he heads the state like the conflict in Atar and Khorfulus about the naming of county as the governor. What is kind of governor? If Kiir is wisdom man, why he can not adjust this problem without waiting to let the problem escalates in whol the south in which would prevent the south from getting an Independence in 2011. It is an essential thing to negotation quickly as the International Community said the South needed be freed by all means so that it would get it Independence as it fought for so long. I will reject the idea of getting Independence since Kiir does not know how to lead when easier thing abstract his mind at this time. How about if the South become a nation and this thing happens? He could leave the country. General Athor is the winning right now since president of the South failed not to negotaition with him and he see the lives are been lost by his own citizens and said they are upto them. What is kind of president now? I wish I could rule you,Sudanese.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
