SPLM denies disappearance of Sudanese minister of Health

Oct 13, 2005 (LONDON) — Reliable sources in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) denied the disappearance of the Sudanese Federal Minister of Health Dr. Tabita El Shokai.

This denial came after a report published by a daily newspaper saying she has suddenly disappeared, thereby raising fears about her personal safety.

Several members of SPLM and SSNET (South Sudanese Network) forums have actually talked with her today on the phone, and confirmed that she is safely in London UK.

The recently appointed Minister of Health did leave from Khartoum with the full knowledge of the Government of Sudan, on a short visit to UK and is in touched with the Sudan Embassy here.

The SPLM sources said to Sudan Tribune that such fallacious reports confirm the need of “our own powerful media now.”

Actually, Commandant Dominic Kassiano was reported to have disappeared suddenly in SPLA control areas in a way to implicate the Movement negatively. This was later proved to be not true.

Also recently Sudanese press alleged that Nhial Deng Nhial, an SPLM leader, had left Khartoum for London in protest related to ministerial appointments.
