Three artists perform in Rumbek for SPLM campaign

By Manyang Mayom

March 4, 2010 (RUMBEK) — Three top South Sudanese musicians, Nyankol Mathiang, David Pacong Mading and Marial Awuok Til, were brought to perform in Lakes state for the SPLM campaign. Thousands of natives of Lakes state turned out at Sunshine Lodge to witness the event.

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) governor candidate Engineer Chol Tong Mayay is campaigning for votes across the state’s eight counties.

Nyankol, a renowned Southern Sudanese artist who composed revolutionary songs, voiced support for New Sudan’s separation from North Sudan. The song also touched on the future of New Sudan if it takes the route of independence beginning in 2011. She also focused on the Abyei administration which she asserted had been left behind by Southern Sudanese leaders; her song questioned Francis Mading Deng and all ten top leaders of the South Sudanese government on why Abyei has remained behind.

Chol Tong has expanded his election campaign to his hometown of Amongping payam. Residents there turned out in hundreds to welcome him home. The local chief slaughtered a first-class bull designated for his welcoming.

Speaking at the rally under a mango tree, Chol Tong Mayay ensured his followers "I am the same Chol Tong whom you all knew before – I have brought to you a box of hope and justice of SPLM party for you to vote me into power of governorship of Lakes state – your suffering for 22 year plus 5 years of CPA are seen by your movement and yet your movement the SPLM is still telling you to vote for me and Yasir Arman as well Salva Kiir Mayardit so that the last bridge will be crossed without sweat and no violence in 2011."

He made a campaign promise that he would work not just for his home area of Amongping payam but for the whole nation. "I will work closely with elderly people, children, women and youth who were affected by 22 years civil war between North and South. I will be open to every one of you to give me advice when I am going wrong in my cabinet – I am ready to solve your problems and you must also be ready to solve my condition – give me your opinion," said Tong Mayay.

The chief of Amongping told the SPLM governor candidate, "We don’t need a leader of money but only we need a leader of people and to allow freedom and to combat inter-clan or intertribal clashes in this state."

"The SPLM will take care of you all chiefs as well your payment and health insurance of human life are on the top list of the movement. There will be no more suffering if you elect me to become governor of this state," the candidate responded.

"The five years that we had spent in power were just five years of misunderstanding between the SPLM and NCP on wealth and power sharing option as well part of consultation were not put in order. Oil-sharing money was not allocated according to the agreement," said Chol.

The SPLM governor candidate hails from Rumbek Central County at Amongping Payam located in the eastern part of Rumbek Central County. He is a member of the Dinka-Agaar tribe, and within that he is part of a small section of Panyon in the sub-clan Papmany. The Panguetkur, which is also a section of Panyon, has a history of inter-clan disputes with the Papmany that is still ongoing in the form of revenge-seeking.

Last month, on Wednesday, the official Land-cruiser car belonging to the SPLM governor candidate was hijacked by unknown gunman in Cueicok area of Amonyping payam. The candidate was not inside the car when it fell into the hijackers’ hands, according to an official last month.

Lakes state had a lot of insecurity in both the western part (Cueibet County) as well as in the eastern part (Yirol West County and Yirol East County).

Engineer Chol Tong, your speech make me think that you will win the governorship in Lake State because your vision is the vision of SPLM.
    SPLM/A oyeee.

This quote content me. "your movement the SPLM is still telling you to vote for me and Yasir Arman as well Salva Kiir Mayardit so that the last bridge will be crossed without sweat and no violence in 2011."
    Thanks alot

Whom is Nyankol Miathiang Dut is supporting by the way? If she is supporting Salva Kiir Miyardit, then I hope that she is supporting nothing at all. Salva Kiir Miyardit is not ready for Election since he allow Omar Bashir to come to Juba in order to entrange his campaign. How come that for your enemy in order to know your tactic? I don’t no what Nyankol Miathiang Dut is supporting for. Do Southern Sudanese people believe that if Dr.John Garang de Mabior was alive, then Omar Bashir can come and campaign in Juba? I don’t think at all.

Why should Southern Sudanese people support someone who is incompetent of winning the Election? Do Southern Sudanese people believe that Salva Kiir Miyardit will win the Election? If he win the Election, then that is fine with me, but I don’t thoroughly agree whether Salva Kiir Miyardit will win. The political strategies which I saw before the present of the Late Dr.John Garang de Mabior was really a political move which was known by everybody in Southern Sudan that one day Southern Sudan will be in a good shape. But, However, since the death of the Late Dr John Garang de Mabior, the SPLM/SPLA Political Wing fail competely to follow the footstep of Dr John Garang de Mabior.

To compare the political scenerio in the present time as from the month of August 11,2005 which is the month and the year in which Salva Kiir Miyardit was appointed to accelerate the Legacy of Dr John Garang, there was nothing which ever come substantially true either in Political dialogue or either in making unification of Southern Sudan. When does it happen for everyone to run the same position? This happened last few months ago when the Southern Sudanese leaders contested for the position of Governorship. Where were Salva Kiir Miyardit during that time? Did Salva Kiir Miyardit admonished all these leaders?Everybody in the Southern Sudan expected to be a leader. So, in this way, I totally disagree about the support of Nyankol Miathiang. I know that Salva Kiir Miyardit is my leader, but he definitely fail to address the current issues which is facing the Southern Sudan people whether in Diaspora or within Southern Sudan. Salva Kiir Miyardit was not appointed just to sit on the Sofa Seat or on the Chair in his office. He was nominated to do the will of Southerners. I will vote when I see the right person who will redeem Southern Sudanese from the hand of Arabs and not the person who is addicted of making "Reshuffling" all the time. I’m tired of hearing this word call Reshuffling all the times.

        Hey Mr Dinka Boy,

I’m not like you who just support unreasonable matters. I love Salva Kiir Miyardit, but in reality he is doing nothing. Second, I’m not a sycophant person - who just support someone because of his richest. I have to said that because Reshuffling is nothing to me and even to the rest of the other Southern Sudanese people who demand peace like I do.

Mr Dinka boy, reason first and think about the out-come of an issue. Do you believe that Salva Kiir Miyardit did everything good during the time he took the Chairmanship?

My friend, whether or not, Salva Kiir Miyardit will not win the Election. When I said that, I don’t mean that I don’t like Salva Kiir Miyardit, but the way he is managing the Administration.

Anyway, thank and think in advance.

          Mr Agustino Deng,

We have to know that South Sudan is under introductory stage where by leaders can not just catch up like the free countries. I think the little that Salva Kiir did is better than deverse things in the Bush. I am very much supportive to those who can stop aggression in this partial of ours. And i think he is one of them.

I disagree with you 100% when you asked that is Salva Kiir going to win 2010?.
My friend, you said not. in fact, you think that Dr Lam Akol is going to win since they are th only two candidates running in 2010.Now are you supporting Lam Akol because of what?. What are the achievements that he did that you think are better than for Salva Kiir?.

I think you are the one to think first than me because i knew that Dr Lam Akol is completely adisease in the South which i can not compare with Salva since the formation of SPLM. I know man, Salva Kiir can not run to khartoum because of Bribe, my friend, i assumed that because he never run away like Lam.

Yes, we are regret due to the death of our hero Dr Garang de Mabior, but what can we do?, are you apealing for DR Lam Akol better than Salva Kiir? . please think twice otherwise we will be in trouble again.

            Hi mr Dinkaboy.

Put in your mind that, there is no hand pick in this election and there is no free position so that he could be appointed by minister again like before. He has to stand on his own feet.

The most people in Sudan know Dr lam very well as well thinking and creative and with great atitudes.Under leadership of Dr Lam Akol, you will enjoy your lif. Fore instance, you won’t worry about security of yourself, friends, uncles, acousins and your family. You will get a job according your diploma or digree you have without discrmination.

Forget about Dr Lam Akol presidency in the South Sudan.
Just study and work for the best so that you will be apresident one day in the South Sudan ;instead ,of you talking about this disgracing guy. He even know that he will not get any position in the South in 2010 and 2011. He should start consulting the South for any position like the way traitor Rieck Machar did when he join SPLM after defecting in 1991. Warning! watch out dear.

Your language show that your are one of primitive who support Kiir because he is from your tribe. How could you say that he is a fighter and other are non fighters? People fought war in different ways. Event people who cooked and wish Salva Kiir’s clothes are fighters too. Taking war to Salva Kiir as the only fighter in south sudan is a way of an ignornce from you.

For your information in 1987 to 1990 I had been in Northern upper Nile zone, under direct command of lam akol, especially in chilluk areas,[ luaak ]and [gaar] from Tonga to kaka [tijhariah] western part of the Nile .those peoples participated a lot during struggle especially Fashoda battalion but they have weak heart .they can’t endure hard things .in 1983 to 1990 they were full supporters of the SPLA/M but want thing become hot majority surrendered themselves to Arab and left atar warriors to support spla/m in the same region . Oduck you had a very bad mark on your back .better to join spla/m for the betterment of our people .few of you have a good records which may clean your tribe in the future. These are documented facts. Absolutely Lam will do nothing and he failed several time to cope up with leadership .See Dr Raik machar is trying to clean himself in front of the southerners. I know you still in level of (beny),so you need to upgrade you mentality to the level of what is right and wrong. Dr Lam did not bought his PHD with money. He got by provement to the world, but what about Salva’s PHD? can you answeer that one.

                      Hey Mr Alfredo Christaini,

You are the useless person who never think of the consequences. You said in your comment that where am I in 1983? In 1983, I was captured by Arab at Ruweng Biemnom. And then in 1986, I went to Bilpam. Are you satisfied with that or not?

If you understand that, then I want to tell you that Salva Kiir was in the Movement and after all he was not the one who was fighting in front line. Salva Kiir give orders only. Do you think that if Dr John Garang die during the time when SPLM/SPLA still in war will you think that there will be a referendum in the Southern Sudan under this leadership of Salva Kiir Miyardit? Arab could already finished with the Southern Sudanese. But, thank God for inspiring Dr John Garang to sign the CPA and die.

There is no different between Salva Kiir Miyardit and Dr Lam Akol. All of them are doing nothing except that the only thing Salva Kiir did not do is rebel. But, in this present time, Salva Kiir and Lam Akol are the same. What we call a rebel is not someone who kill his people alone, but if a head of the people always follow things which are not suitable to his people then there is a point of which people should term him as an indirect-rebel because he doesn’t care about his people. So, Salva Kiir Miyardit doesn’t know what he is doing at all.

So, please think carefully and don’t place your judgement just because that maybe Salva Kiir Miyardit is from your tribe or maybe he is related to you in anyway. Kiir Miyardit is my leader, but he is wrong completely. Mr Alfredo Christiani, I advised you in order to brainstrom your mind of what is reliable and what is unreliable.

Thank you so much and I hope you will digest my comment very carefully. My e-mail address is dengagasio@yahoo.com. Write me if you want to.

Deng you said Arab captured you in 1983 and in 1986 they released you, than you went to Ethiopia to joined SPLA/M that meant you were sent to spy on SPLA/M. you didn’t joined it as a personnel decision.
Augustino as I said your name sound very well but your behaviors kick you to the knee stage is true. No dinka with slave heart like you .just leave that talk to oduck, getwech and the rest who wants to stay under Arabs. Let us accomplish our mission first without division. After independent, please raise your issues of maladministration in southern Sudan where by everybody will call for change, not now in this critical junctions.
I hope you understand my points.

Oduck bol your points are very clear .you are a tribalist who don’t want dinka to lead us.
In fact dinka are in seven states out of ten states of southern Sudan. Many of them died in all war zones starting from south-Kordofan .blue Nile including former regions of southern Sudan during struggle, even if true democratic comes in southern Sudan the same dinka will get more in power sharing, wealth sharing and so on .because they are majority in Sudan not southern Sudan alone . So let us be realistic and design things on the table in peaceful way. Your decision will not help you .unless to commit suicide. No thank.
