James Gatdet Dak, Machar’s press secretary, told Sudan Tribune that the raid occurred at 3am on Sunday morning.

Five students who are relatives to the Vice President and resided in the house in Khartoum were arrested by the security personnel. Their whereabouts are not known.

The security personnel also looted the vehicles at the residence including refrigerators in the house.

It was not clear why the house was raided. The office of the South Sudan’s Vice President called on Sudan’s government to respect human rights of individuals and urged for their release.

Coward SAF forces of Khartoum raided the house of Dr. Riek Machar thinking that they are defeated in Unity state because he is in Bentiu. They don’t respect the right of individuals to own assets even in foreign countries now that Khartoum is a foreign land after July 2011. Bashir has a house in Malaysia, what is wrong with that. Raiding the house will not give you back Heglig.

There is nothing call permanent enemy in international relations. Enemy of today becomes friend tomorrow and vice versa. Many leaders from South Sudan have houses in Khartoum, not only Dr. Machar. But the reason they raided his house is because they think is the cause for SAF defeat in Unity state. Also Khartoum claimed in Addis that the Nuer were the ones fighting them in Unity state.

We need to tell Khartoum that not only the Nuer are fighting them in Heglig. Because the Nuer are the majority in the SPLA and tough fighters as well doesn’t mean they are the ones fighting alone and defeating SAF alone. There are others from different tribes as well.
