Athor demands cancellation of elections results, dissolution of South Sudan govt

May 13, 2010 (JUBA) – Jonglei state’s renegade General, George Athor Deng, has come up with fresh demands that the current Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) be dissolved and a new transitional government be formed to supervise holding of the Southern Sudan referendum.

The former Deputy Chief of Staff in the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) told the Southern Sudan-based widely listened to Miraya FM radio, in an exclusive interview on Thursday, that he called for the cancellation of the elections results all over Southern Sudan.

He said a new transitional government would be formed to include all the political parties and independent candidates, describing the incumbent President-elect, Salva Kiir Mayardit, as “blind” who doesn’t see the unfolding situation.

The defeated independent gubernatorial candidate accused the current SPLM-led GoSS leadership of allegedly abandoning the party’s vision which was based on the principle of democratic transformation.

Athor, who recently began rebelling two weeks ago, warned against what he described as an imminent comprehensive war in Southern Sudan unless his demands are met. He is currently in an area between Duk Padiet and Awet, a closer location to Jonglei state’s capital, Bor, than his previous location.

Athor also claimed that he is receiving support from within the Sudan People’s Liberation Army.

The SPLA spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Kuol Deim Kuol, refuted the presence of Athor’s supporters within the army, adding that Athor’s forces are not more than a hundred soldiers, and that they have fled to uninhabited areas.

Kuol threatened to eliminate Athor’s forces by military means if he continues to make ‘false allegations’. However, he stressed that SPLA wants the issue to be resolved peacefully.

Senior officials in the government had earlier indicated that Gen. Athor could be having a coordinated presence among some military leaders in many towns including Juba, the capital.

The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) has pledged to mediate peace between the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and the renegade General.

A delegation from UNMIS, headed by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General, Jasbir Lidder, on Wednesday met with the Vice President-designate of the government, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, to explore ways to initiate the process.

The meeting discussed the possibility of halting the crisis by reaching a peaceful settlement to the ongoing clashes in the troubled Jonglei state through negotiations with Athor.

The UN team briefed the Vice President about their ongoing phone contacts with Gen. George Athor whom they said was expressing willingness to negotiate with the government.

The delegation expressed UN’s readiness to provide logistical support for the process.

Dr. Machar said he supported the idea and the peaceful initiative, but would however consult first with his colleagues as a government before he could promise any decision to the UN body.

Athor initially demanded the sacking of the incumbent governor-elect, Kuol Manyang Juuk, who he accused of stealing the election results and warned that he would attack his state’s capital, Bor, if his demands were not met.

"We are organizing our forces in all areas and we are going to converge in Bor….attacking Bor," Athor told Reuters adding that he is willing to negotiate.

It is widely believed that the renegade General could be recruiting forces from armed youths from various communities in the state and other disgruntled former SPLA soldiers who were not confirmed or incorporated into the Southern Sudan army.

Athor recently claimed yet another victory over SPLA forces in their recent clashes for the third time during which he said his forces on Wednesday killed more than 30, captured a military vehicle and destroyed a number of them. The SPLA confirmed the clashes but denied the number of casualties.

The minister for Legal Affairs and Constitutional Development, Michael Makuei Lueth, rulled out any negotiations with a "renegade."

"There is no question of sending a delegation to a commander who has mutinied. So there’s nothing like that. He must be crushed militarily," Minister Makuei told New Sudan Vision from Juba.

"As the Government of Southern [Sudan], it’s decided that this issue should be addressed militarily. The position of the caretaker Government of southern Sudan since day one has been that this thing should be addressed militarily," he said.

Many people are searching for sources of all this mess.

It is all due to Arabs. Arabs are the ones promising Athor a lion’s share when the referendum is stolen. So Athor will just drag his feet in the bush until referendum time.

What brought Arabs to our backyards is what will is finish us.

          GoSS Leadership,

It is better to lower yourself and negotiate with Athor than to destroy referendum which is the pride of all southerners. The ordinary citizens of south Sudan will curse you if you spoil their dream of self- determination.

besides, Athor was a great fighter and contributed fully in the moment, hence, God will curse us if we simply kill him like a fly. If you think negotiating with Athor is discrediting the picture of GoSS, then permit UNMIS do it.

          Take my advice,

It is possible that Athor is reading from this website.

Athor is misinterpreting what people wrote earlier as comments. Athor is not right. You have no supporters militarily. Your actions are not justifiable. People were just sympathetic to your life. Everybody wants you and the soldiers to return to your barracks without punishments as you previously requested. None of us want to you dead. These soldiers are our brothers, nephews, cousins, in-laws former friends and comrades in SPLA.

Current threats and unreasonable demands will lead us to a bitter confrontation that will leave historic scars among our sub-clan’s lines. Dissolving the GOSS will cause more problems. Athor should tell us how to put a correct government after dissolving the GOSS. Another election?..........waste of time. What other means and ways should another government be put in place? Or we going to stay without government?. Athor you need to be wise.

Athor should not allow himself to be directed by enemies of south sudan. Our sympathy is running out over his life. If he allows himself to be use to disintegrate the south, then we are ready add him to the long list of our dear brethren who are dead for the sake of liberation. Those who point their guns against us do live long enough. You will not win militarily. You will die like Akuot Atem, Gai Tut, Kerubino Kwanyin, Arok Thon and Nyuon Bany. Athor, we are ready to bury you if you allow yourself to be used to destroy referendum and CPA for us. We the same people who will kill you will be the same people who will hold your funeral with grief because you are our brother. We are ready to forgive you if you come and at the same time we are ready to bury you if you want to tear the South down. You are one of us. You not only belong to our Ngok family but also to our SPLA family. Come back please and stop this unnecessary demands guided by our enemies.

The report said, i am just paraphrasing it that NCP is looking for well known former commanders to use to sabotage referendum because ncp expected that new country is more likely. But I wanted you to know that Kuol would never step down because Kuol was not only elected by the people of Bor, but by the Jonglei’s citizens. If Athor thought of removing Kuol by force I will say that is not going to happen believe it or not. I uderstand some Nuers and murley have already joined him, but they have to know that there is no war that we Dinka Bor are focusing on again, we can leave the South’s Army and go to Bor to protect kids and women from our enemies. Brothers: Gatwech and others,

I have one thing to tell you that you need to be cautious about: your choices and use of word, or rather the language of your intentions. Your must know that there is great distinction between an individual and a community. Kuol and Makuei are individuals and are in no way representing the Dinka Bor community. So take their comments as personal not communal as is the case with all you perception wise.

We all know that the unfolding situation in the state of Jongeli will not be limited to the very state if not handle wisely. In fact, we are aware of the forces of manipulation behind all these, but we need not tribalize it.

I am not an advocate of polarized politics, in which class-consciousness is a grounding principle. I know there are cases in which I may be forced to say pathetic things in defense of my tribe, and that is when things are outrageously being engulfed with framed fabrications that have no truth in them, but hatred.

Gatwech, I know you are an academician with sound mind, and with that I am sure you know the truth surrounding the looming hell nearing havoc otherwise.

First, I am not and will not be in support of those preaching the notion of confrontation to Mr Athor’s problem an options. It may be an option to ending this problem, but will we afford to lose more lives in a senseless case like this that was instigated by greeds?

As is the case of the "loose dogs or stupid guys" that you have recommended me to extend my advice to them, I thought my advice in the last post were to "us" and that mean all of us wether in favor of Athor or not.... but not specifying anybody. You know well that we have imposters or call them pretenders surfing the web who would do anything unbecoming in the pursuit of acheiving their own devilish ends....

Gatwech, there is more into Athor;s mutiny that has little to do with Bor people, the election or jongeli state,....that I fear to predict but will surface soon.....and some new developments are indicative of that.

So let put the truth first.....and let not revise history to further our negating

              Lets pray for peace!

Either of the stated options can’t solve the problem between Athor and the Jonglei government.

What has become an exaggurated here in Athor case is the political involvement by the already defeated candidates and those who do not like Mayardit’s administration right from day one.

Now, the case in point is the involment of officials by giving advice to Gen. Athor to pursue their own interests, what exactly do these people wanted to gain from these deadly wars.

With the recent upcoming referedum and the instable south sudan, what will be the future of the south?

Describe his president Blind and inviting opposition parties inluding Lam Akol to the government, what is the vision of Athor towards south sudan?

Begining with sectional wars the bigger ones could be tribal wars has prophesised by Ngundeng Bong.

also it seems like you don’t understand state under federal government. Governor doesn’t has power over the army and all states are protected by the federal government. Athor militia threat is James Hoth Mai job and not governor. sometime you sound like an idiot who doesn’t know what he is talking about or you let yourself be controlling by hatred toward Bor community.

Apadang and Bor are one people and killing will never make no one better. Also Bor is part of south Sudan so they don’t have army and Kuol and Bor community are different. however, what is he fighting for? governorship position? i hope he should leave Khorfulus and they young people he have forced to his stupid militia and then go and fight his governorship war somewhere else. our people had enough and it is time to rest our head. we want to focus on referendum and not stupid governorship war.

Apadang are wonderful people and we are not Internet fighters/warriors so we don’t need your promotion sorry. we are warriors and fighters and that why we never joined southern Sudan enemy and we will never be in the future. What I have seen sofar from public funds looters so call Micheal Makuei Lueth, Kuol Manyang Juuk and alikes are really have their own plans to topple Salva Kiir Mayardit’administration if Kiir set back and watching at those men without doing something apart from them then he will up oust.

Makuei Lueth said that there is negotiations to general Athor Deng Dut in order to halting on going violences, what does he hpopping? Calling for military action; what leader.

The SPLA forces deployed around Bor town are not Bor sons alone; if that is the case of rejecting peace negotiated, those soldiers Athor Deng have people in there and they might joint Athor like what happened in Doleib Hill.

Micheal Makuei Lueth never been in front line during south north war, he was a logistic in Jebbel Buma keep ration and call himself a law, he have no any idea how general Athor Deng champions the war on ground.

Makuei Lueth said who is Athor to negotiate with; that is funny, if you forgot who is Athor I can give you tips right here. General Athor Deng Dut freed your mothers, sisters, brothers and fathers from nuer militias in the 90s the massive nuers militias who were led by general Bol Koang I think you are aware of Athor.

General Athor Deng broke pipeline in 2001 from Heligge when he was in charge of division 20 of SPLA forces base in Panrieng county north of unity State.

Athor Deng contributions in this movement are countless, there is no commanders in the SPLA comparison to Athor Deng Dut, and he will not be killed like William Nyuon Bany and Karibino Kuanyin Bol any body think that way forget it.

The only window to use is negotiation rather than provoke him,Athor threaten to attack Bor town if spla forces attack him again, take this note it’s not joke he have big supportetrs from Murle as you heard he is already join by militias leader Chibetek from nuer lou, those mention can attack Bor town very simple, is that Makuei Lueth and Kuol Manyang want to happend in populated Bor town? I don’t think so.

For me, even if George Athor goes crazy, killing people everywhere, let him do it inorder to give a very good lesson to the SPLM and the GOSSS in general.

Most of the SPLM members never tested death, be it of their relatives or friends. They were just in Europe, Australia, Americas enjoying and claiming to be busy as supporters of the suffering SPLA in the Southern jungles. Gen. Athor, you might be another saviour and the voice of the voiceless. Struggle for God will protect you throughout your mission.

I am really thrown into desperate situation when I read commentaries made by those of these ghost names called Worldmaker and Gatwech just to name few, why are you dancing and bragging about the looming crisis in Jonglei? If Dinka-Bor out-lived the past incidences, then I guess they can withstand anybody who dares to question their manhood this time. I go for no negotiation on cancellation of the recent south-Sudan election. How can Athor demanded democratically elected government and its pillar to be dissolved? Physical fight is always the last resort, but you can’t condone the fight when you are intimidated in such manner. Athor and his likes must be taught a lesson.

For those who wish Dinka-Bor crash by Athor, I advice you withdraw your forces from Athor’s men and let them come as Athor’s men Vs Kuol’s men and you will all watch that show with amusement.

Both Makuei Lueth & Kuol are known violence leaders. Why do these Dinka-Bor leaders want to solve Jonglei problems with violence?

It is very clear from Makuei Lueth’s words that Dinka-Bors are war-mongers in Jonglei. They rejected democracy and try to blame it on the Greater Pandang’s son, George Athor.

Dinka-Bor’s tribalism and sectionalism need to be nibbed in the butts in Jonglei. Please, war is not a Kumbaya business as Bours are war-mongering in Bor. Give the thieves what they asked for, violence in Mading-Bor

I call it a curse that is pouring out of these Bor-Dinka officials like Makuei Lueth and Kuol Manyang.

What they see is government position. They think if GOSS will negotiate with Athor, some of his demands may be met by removing from positions some of these Bor-Dinka officials.

They don’t care whether the fighting reaches Bor town and destroys their communities as long as some of them enjoy life there in Juba and may escape to other countries with their looted money.

Thieleling, the Ngundeng’s predicted destruction of Bor is coming and the Bor-Dinka themselves seem to welcome it.

Now reports from Bor say their villagers have already started leaving Jonglei state and crossing the River Nile to Bahr el Ghazal in fear of Athor’s destructive attacks. Is this what those of Makuei Lueth want?

      Dear readers,

I sometimes hate to read this website because of those who behave like the people of the ’Stone Age’. This is not the time to support any wrong doer because he/she is my relative. Supporting George Athor, Kuol Manyang, Salva Kiir and their likes at this particular time is completely wrong.

Salva and his political bureau were the first to commit the mistake during the selection of candidates. Kuol Manyang, Paul Malong, Taban Deng, Clement Wani and Nunu Kumba were not supposed to be reselected.

My advice to those who still say SPLA Oyee is as follows:

      1) During the April elections, the SPLA behaved like a new Jallaba to the people of Southern Sudan and I want all of you and your Gen. Kiir to look into this.

      2) Kiir should immediately dismiss all his advisers and security agents in all ten states because they do not report the facts to their chief about malpractices being done by the state governors and government officials partly because they are involved and party because they are bribed by those corrupt leaders.

      3) Kiir should also remove Pagan Amum, Kuol Deim, and Yen Mathew from their current positions because the way they talk is premature. By doing this, Kiir will save the people of the south from the disaster of fire that is fueled by the tongues of these guys.

Regarding Athor’s rebellion, let the SPLM leadership handle it with wisdom and not by the use of force as some of you have already supported using the killing slogan of SPLA Oyee.

General George Athor is only waging a media war. He is a dilemma he doesn’t know how to get out from. His forces never achieved any victory or defeat over SPLA forces, but only attracting regional and international attention through the media propaganda. Yesterday he was interviewed by Arabic Aljazeera TV channel. He said he would support the NCP against SPLM. Is this not a treason and betrayal?
His demand for the dissolution of GoSS shows that the man has rebelled totally and this should be met by military force.
George Athor has contravened the constitution, leave alone of rebelling against GoSS. He resigned from the army and contested elections as a civilian. After losing, he took up arms waged war against the system. He could have challenged the election results through constitutional court and not resort to violence.

So, brother it’s you and your boss whose asses would kicked soon.

i am not from Bor area I am from Khorfulus or Apadang and if you don’t know where that is in the map then let me know. it seems like anybody with Dinka name who disagree with you is automatically from Bor. welcome to the world haters. let me tell you one thing that Dinka Bor are not even one-third of the Dinka population. i don’t know but why that tiny community got into many Nuers nerve so much? it is a small community that you can a cross in one day and i have been there once. history will tell us someday about what Dinka Bor community had done to Nuers that cause these so much grievances and animosity toward Bor. keep your hatred up toward Bor since you know what you are going to achieve from it.

also you don’t have to tell me that Dr. Riek was not involved in 1991 since you sounded like you don’t know anything about it. it was a coup attemp planned by army officers within the SPLA including some from Bor areas, but Dr. Riek missed up and used everything against Bor community instead of the leadership of the SPLA.

You can read chapter 26 of the Emma war book and by the way the movie is going come out very soon about Emma McCunne and Dr.Riek and Deborah Scroggins is play Emma and Dave is play Dr. Riek whom they called "thug rebel commander" also read Sudan modern history by Collins pg250 and mad Man by Fugenson pg 223 and you can go to the New Time or washington post website and search for 1991 report or type Bor Massacre.

i was not in Bor area in 1991, but there are a lot of information about that here in the United States of America. you can watch Dr. Riek interviews by many western journalists or Akobo convention when Dr.Riek and Dr.Lam’s argument in the middle of the convention that turned them against each other.

so when Nuers are going to get rid of Dinka Bor? Some of Nuers hate Bor community than Arab.

People like Makuen Lueth should watch their mouths. He is instigating a fire that he will not have any role in putting out. There is no evidence to support his baseless allegations that Gen Athor has mutinied. What Gen. Athor is doing is exactly what the real SPLA fought for for the last 20 years. Gen Athor is fighting for true and honest democratic principles. People’s vote matter and should not be stolen at the whim of politicians in Juba.

Makeun Lueth is reducing these legitimate grievances to mere mutiny and that is a dangerous precedent. What is needed is a direct talk with Gen Athor and resolving this in a manner that will not result in further chaos. To his greatness, Gen. Athor has so far avoided attacking civilian areas because he is fighting for their votes. That is not how mutinous forces behave. Usually, they terrorize the local population to extract concessions. Gen Athor’s forces are not doing that. They are defending themselves from hyenas like Makeun Lueth who has not idea about how to deal with military affairs.

I would like to advice brother George Athor not to cut his life short for the sake of useless governorship, he was better to fight for his right politically as others politicians do not because they do not have capability to take over arms, but they already know politic war is normally exist in any country where ever the politic is exist, the have to fight back politically for their political success instead of destruction of country. Any way if he is a politician as he previously presented him self as governorship candidate, he would know that by sure the people who he were willing to governor them are the same people he is going to let them be kill to day in madness behavior, other wise he is also a failure politician as he describes others, that is why Arabs say a camel doesn’t know its neck is curve and that proverb come after camel once met giraffe and got admired by its long neck, and said my god this animal neck is very long even curved, then people laugh and said the camel doesn’t know it has a curve neck, that is look like George Athor he describes others as corrupt people as he is not better than them, which is laughable story as he is the worst creature in the world.

Some thing i realize at George Athor behavior is he is very confident of his greatness description as a very great fighter, but i would bet him that situation is not equal yesterday he was great fighter because he was a great fighter in a south bushes as Khartoum government was fighting in the cities since rebels were fighting in the jungle which was a home for them, both government and rebels had divided Sudan into two parts bush and cities, but now situation its different south Sudan became a government which has occupied the whole south jungle and cities and i don’t think there would be a capacity to another person who will divide south land with government, as we all know government has a long hand and an individual is an individual that will make George Athor to difficult resistant the government for too long as he imagine.

George Athor is a son of beloved south he would be forgiven, if he didn’t try to resist very long or eventually he will get his fade in his current imagination.
Even me i was considering him as a great fighter, but not as now as he reveal his real color of stupidity.

If I were Salvatore Kiir Miyerdit I would have resigned given the magnitude of the unfolding situation instead of waiting to see the complete collapse of South Sudan like the house of cards.

Somebody might get the needed skills and spirit to reunite our people.

Athor calls Kiir blind because there are some people in the SPLA itself with their communist allies who want to see Salvatore Kiir’s leadership messed up so that they use the situation to convince the civil population to stage uprising against Kiir.

In that case, then they would present themselves as alternatives and justify and taking over by military means.

I can see that on SSTV the so-called SPLA acting spokesman, Col. Malaak Ayuen is not talking about Kiir’s vision or statements, but only playing Garang’s as if John Garang is still the president and commander-in-chief. This is ridiculous!

They are acting like if Kiir is just a dumb leader who produces nothing to refer to like John Garang used to do. This character assissination.

The situation is already cooked from the rear and Athor could be right when he described Kiir as blind leader.

My visionary icons of greater Bor territory, hear Athor threats like a kid ingesting in public place. We have fought Arab and some collaborationists tribes of the South Sudan for 22 years and we defeaded them. Not just Apadaang Nyok or Theen of Jonglei who claim that they are brave, according to what called Athor’s statements.

Athor you have passed our stool all over Bor community eye and without us under you or on your leadership it seem as if you were not born on earth. Because we are the leaders choosers if not in leadership. To conceptualise it, forget leadership in your daily lives either in Jonglei or GOSS.

Athor and the entire Apadaang, capturing Bor-Town is like having sex with you mother. Sotherners a mad man is not only the one who walks with stool on his head but also the one who rebelled against government of the people.

Dear patriotes southerns Athor is not a leader on this earth,
Reason, He was the one causing conflict among Apadaang Nyok Dinka of Jonglei in 2006 which led to death of Machok Atem and many others.

I am really thrown into desperate situation when I read commentaries made by those of this ghost names called Worldmaker and Gatwech just to name few, why are you dancing and bragging about the looming crisis in Jonglei?

Talk tough won’t help at all. I don,t know if you are really from Dinka Bor. Im confuse, are you talking Apadang Nyok VS Bor or are you talking Apadang Nyok VS Southern Sudan? When did Bor fighting Arab with some collaborationists tribes without others Dinka subtribes participate? Or you meant Garang as a leader? I though all Dinka subtribes help bor from Nuer tribe without Arab mixed them in 1991? I do know for sure all subtribes of Dinka died in your bor land more than Bor Died in others subtribes of Dinka land. Bad tongue alway confuse people indeed because I don,t understand what wrote I guess it, so if I misinterpreting your arguementation sorry about that. But Im confess i don,t know what you meant about "Athor you have passed our stool all over Bor Community eye". Is General Athor already passed your stool all over your Community eye?

      Kur William,

How many SPLA soldiers loss their lives since the rebellion of Gen. Athor? Remember Athor is not fighting for liberation but for democracy transformation, a medality manipulated into CPA and which was transgressed by Kiir’s choice of maintaining the baseless governors and members of parliaments in various states of south sudan.

This problem should not be solve militarily but diplomatically.

Information coming from Bahr el Gazal says that SPLA/M has started arresting the independent candidates possibly to preempt an Athor uprising. If this is confirmed to be so, then, indeed someone is leading President Kiir to a dangerous territory. There will not be a referendum and the status quo (unity) will remain. The saboteurs should be apprehended now while there is still some hope! I can feel a military coup against Kiir brewing.

I don’t understand the wisdom behind the president Salva Kiir allowing crises in his government to safe guard Kuol’s failed government. This could have been settle peacefully if it wasn’t for Kuol. George Athor went to relax in his home village and remain silence yet people wanted to arrest him. He has the right to defend himself. Who will hand over himself knowing the evil Kuol is capable of committing.

    Dear readers,

News coming from Juba say that Rebecca Nyandeng de Garang has fled Juba and went to Nairobi because of fear for General George Athor’s planned attacks on Bor town.

She also fears the people of Central Equatoria state because she was behind the rigging of Alfred Gore’s votes.

Please, should somebody there in Juba confirm the news for us?

It is said that Nyandeng fled about three days ago.

Funny indeed , some people joined Athor because they want ranks and to became SPLA soldiers but ended up dead on the side of Athor.

    * There is something wrong with their IQs.

    * They can NOT make a realy true soldier of the SPLA .

Nairobi SRS) – The renegade former SPLA lieutenant-general George Athor says he will defend himself if his demands are not met.

Athor whose forces allegedly attacked on SPLA barracks in Doliep Hill last month has been involved in subsequent clashes with SPLA soldiers this month.

In an interview with SRS from an undisclosed location on Wednesday, Athor told SRS producer Daniel Danis that talks between him and the GOSS president-elect are at a standstill.

[George Athor]: “The talks are not going on. They have stopped talking to us and they are attacking us. Not a single soldier can move without the knowledge of the president or the commander-in-chief of the troops.”

[Daniel Danis]: Can you confirm whether you will still maintain your position of defensive and not offensive, because rumors has it that you will probably attack Bor, or any other town within the South.

[George Athor]: “I believe that within days, my attack will be against Bor town because I have learned that Salva is somebody who only likes fighting and he doesn’t want to talk. So it is for him to listen to what we are saying, I am organizing my forces for Bor town.”

[Daniel Danis]: But are you not concern that you might sacrifice the lives of civilians by doing this?

[George Athor]: “Well, my warning to all citizens is that they should leave Bor immediately and any place with military bases, they should leave it, because our target is only the military.”

[Daniel Danis]: Can you really hope to deter or actually fight the SPLA forces?

[George Athor]: “We are not playing chess my brother. Fighting is fighting and I can not tell you how many troops I have.”

[Daniel Danis]: What exactly are you hoping to gain by this action?

[George Athor]: “Our first demand is the abolition of the election results. Because the elections were rigged, and so we don’t recognize it. Second, we want the dissolution of the Government of Southern Sudan, and then all the political parties of southern Sudan should come together to discuss how they can form an interim government that will lead us to the referendum and then elections after the referendum.”

George Athor, a former SPLA lieutenant-general, was talking to SRS on Wednesday.

The General is overconfident and full of bullshit hoping that the government of South Sudan will listen to his fucking demands. This pompous jerk is no longer a SPLA general: he needs to shut up and stopped inciting violence and killing innocent civilians. I am tired of hearing his bullcrap every day. Kul Manang won the election and Mr. Athor has to get over it. This fear mongerer needs to get his act together or otherwise he will receive the consequences.

    Dear readers and commentators
This is my second time to write comments on Sudan tribune, however I do read some of the everyday comments send by members of Sudan tribune few of which are educating and interesting and relevant to the original topics and some not so good at all, but who am I to judge? I suggest you my fellow commentators and members to grasp unity among our tribes with your right hand and division let it fall down.
Anyway the subject that I’m going to comment on is Athor demands cancellation of elections results, dissolution of South Sudan govt
I believe there is no point to support such person as George Athor Deng and his rebellion against the southern Sudanese authority. Regardless of his reputations if he has any good ones during the struggle I still see no good reason for anyone to side with his rebellion because first off, southern Sudan as whole is in chaotic condition which leaves us walking on the confusing and dangerous waters of democratization and transformation-that is southern Sudan is already multi-stacked with huge burden after huge burden. However some people fail to understand and appreciate the power of teamwork. Instead of working towards the interest of southern Sudan i.e helping in rebuilding and developing southern Sudan and paving the path for self-determination or autonomy they choose to transgress. In stead of running the country interdependently and in harmony and as group, they tend to run it independently. In the case of George Athor Deng it is pathetic to watch him on the brink of sabotaging the goal and vision and conviction of the Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army (SPLA/M) which is to liberate southern Sudan and other marginalized territories a cross the country in hope of giving them peaceful, just and free world they have been denied of for so long. It is also pathetic to see him carrying it out during important moments that are bound to happen in the history of southern Sudan.
Therefore it is extremely important for the government of southern Sudan to pursue peaceful means to end the crisis if George Athor is willing like he said. It is seems that Athor is definitely a grasping man whose ambitions are power, and pride. It is obvious that his rebellion is a revenge for his defeat in gubernatorial election for the state of Jonglei and he believes that by rebelling against the Juba government is self-satisfying and relieve. George Athor must know that rigging, cheating and corruption are plagues contracted by most human but are best contain in the legal instrument known as court of law. George Athor is exacerbating the situation by calling for cancellation and dissolutions of the recent general elections results and government which is beyond his power and instead he should aware that Juba authorities patient is wearing thin and subsequently have the capacity to shut him down any time.

To you all on this website, ... Where are the (there silent is deafening) many tribes of southern Sudan, why it’s always Dinka, Dinka, and sometime Nuer?. Where are the other tribes?. Are these tribes enjoying the Dinka, Dinka and Nuer killed off each other. Regardless of how small your tribe is, you all need to participate in the struggle to free yourselves for the Arabs north. Is south being run by these 2 tribes?.
