Name: Deng Alor Kuol

Position: Chairperson of the Abyei high national committee for referendum

Political Affiliation: Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM)


Career:

Deng Alor served as Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Cabinet of South Sudan, from 10 July 2011 until 26 August 2011, when President Salva Kiir appointed Nhial Deng Nhial.

Deng Alor also served as Sudan’s Foreign Minister from 2007 to 2010 replacing Lam Akol. After the 2010 general elections he was replaced by the National Congress Party’s (NCP) Ali Karti.

Alor’s last ministerial position was a minister of cabinet affairs before he was removed in 2013 by Kiir following his alleged involvement in a financial scandal.
