Name: Bishop Paulino Lukudu
Position: Catholic Archbishop of Juba
Bishop Paulino Lukudu played a key role in reconciling President Salva Kiir and the late General Paulino Matip in 2005 when they met in Khartoum after the death of John Garang on 31 August 2005. Both Kiir and Matip are Catholic.
Eventually this led to the 2006 Juba Agreement with integrated Matip’s forces into the SPLA, which had become the official army of South Sudan.
