Sudanese ruling party official says cabinet reshuffle probable

KHARTOUM, Dec 17, 2004 (Al-Sahafah) — The secretary-general of the ruling National Congress, Ibrahim Ahmad Omar, has not ruled out cabinet reshuffle in the coming few days to fill ministerial posts left blank following resignations of some ministers affiliated to the Ummah Party reformist wing.

I_Ahmed_Omar.jpgHe told journalist “We might see have some ministerial reshuffle to fill posts which have been left blank.”

He however said “We do not wish to see this happen.” He pointed at National Congress’ efforts to change the minds of the concerned ministers from resigning.

He said his party has been calling on Ummah Party reformist wing to remain united and to continue working with government.

He said these efforts come within National Congress’ keenness on making sure that the government of the national programme will not have differences at a time when the country is just about to realize peace.
