Daniel Wuor Joak, who represented the armed opposition movement in the Scandinavian countries died on Friday in Norway.

In a statement issued Saturday, the SPLM-IO chairman, Riek Machar, said the movement had lost a strong figure in its diplomatic wing.

“CDE Daniel Wuor Joak has been the SPLM/SPLA (IO) representative of Scandinavian Countries. He has been a staunch supporter of Self-determination and independent of the people of South Sudan. He successfully fought the diplomatic battle and popularized the cause of the people of South Sudan in Scandinavian. He is a veteran of the liberation and independence of South Sudan. He was also a strong mouthpiece in the current struggle for reforms and federalism in South Sudan,” partly reads Machar’s statement.

According to the rebel leader, the deceased had been battling with liver cancer for a longer period of time, prior to his untimely death.

Machar, in his statement, urged the family to be strong after Wuor’s death.

“CDE Daniel Wuor Joak leaves a big void in our diplomatic work. We mourn and grieve for this great loss. He shall be missed not only by his family but all of us. May God Rest his Soul in peace,” he stated.

Wour, according to Machar, will temporarily be buried in Norway as recommended by his family, until peace returns to South Sudan.

The deceased, who hailed from Nyangorah in Ulang county of South Sudan’s Sobat state, authored the book "The Rise and Fall of SPLM/SPLA Leadership".

I am not a rebel, but I give my condolences to the friends of Family of IO. Death is a sin, but we all have no choice but to die one day because we have sinned against God and that is why the end is progressing very well in all corners. Death is not going to leave anybody behind; it is what it is.
Do not let your emotions be disturbed. It is not right to say "you, or he the other side, will die tomorrow. Remember that death unifies all of us into one SPLM party unless you do not know the meaning of death. Aso, those leaders like Riek Machar will die last because he has killed millions of South Sudan. He will die at last because of those who kill many, always dead last. But all of us the people of South Sudan wish him a quick and untimely death so that we can celebrate and live in peace. I hope God hears my prayer, thank you all. Anybody who calls for the end of rebel leader will always be A GOOD FRIEND OF GOD because he has killed many children whom he had fooled by fighting a useless war to get back to his position of Vice President. It is not a sin to call God upon Riek Machar to die. Thank you all.

      Nairobimitot,

You are just a devil; death is an enemy. Those who wish death for a fellow human, are of Satan and of devil. You are not good for South Sudan. Your spirit is not good, and God cannot hear your prayers, they are of evil spirit.

Funny South Sudanese!!! Do you remember in 80’s and 90’s when the war is being fought against Khartoum Regimes?
When an opposition leader died a board, his body is taken back home even if the place has to be Khartoum!
Comrade late Yusuf Kuwa Mikki was buried in his home town Kawda and Gen. Fathi Ahmed Ali was buried in Khartoum!!!

Go and rest in peace my brother Daniel Wuor Joak. Thank you for the book you have left behind. It will elucidate some of the fundamental issues facing our young nation. May you continue to help your country achieve peace through your prayers to God in heaven so that this mindless war stop once and for all. Our people are tired of endless series of wars since colonial days up to today!
