Former South Sudan’s army chief denied access to water: wife

November 5, 2017 (JUBA)- The government troops deployed around the residence of the former South Sudanese army chief of staff Paul Malong have rejected to authorize the delivery of water and food to the besieged general and his guards, increasing the tension between the two rival forces in the capital Juba.

Lucy Ayak, wife of Gen. Paul Malong Awan released a statement to the public on Sunday accusing government troops deployed outside the residence in which her husband and the guards live to have taken 35,000 South Sudanese Pounds from relatives who left the house for shopping.

Ayak said the heavily armed soldiers blocked the main road leading to the residence of her husband and refused to allow any vehicle to move in order to bring food and water to people at home.

“This morning the guards were given some money to go and buy some eatable commodities in the market, upon entering the exit gate, the platoon grabbed the money intended to buy food and water from the market,” said Ayak in a statement released to the public on Sunday

“Every human being is created by God to enjoy the earthly privileges of living. I am bringing this inhumane torture out such that the people know what is happening and in light of the Dark dealings happening now,” she adds.

Ayak wondered why her husband and guards are being denied access to water and food, saying it is not a character of humanity for the leadership to deny someone of food and water.

“It sounds evil and ungodly to pronounce hunger and thirsty to somebody that you perceived as an enemy, never even in the court of law when someone is found guilty of a certain crime, be it felony or misdemeanour, or convicted of the death penalty, before killed. It is undeniable right to be fed when still living”, she pointed out.

Tensions rose after Awan rejected presidential order asking for disarmament and subsequent arrest of his guards, denial of visit, possession of weapons, movement out of the residence, arms and ammunition in possession. Any resistance should be met with reasonable force.

we Aweilians are for peace, but a peaceful community should not be use as an opportunity to tortured us. it is enough. we are not God’s, but as humans we can react to any aggressions and humiliations imposes on us. Kiir do not have right to put Aweil community under his knees, anyway, you are behind the news, reducing the no. of body guards is not a problem, but de Phrase, force"

Salva Kiir has betrayed Aweil people. How many Gogrial people are now sanctioned? Yet Aweil is paying high price for Gogrial own Kiir war. As if that is not enough thru our own Gen Ajunga Mawut, Kiir is dividing Dinka Malual. Malong kept protected Aweil people for over twenty years. He’s symbol of Malual unity.

What I know is that president Kiir mislead by Aweil politician who don’t want Malong Awan to be alive, but president doesn’t understand that politicians are different from community and soldiers. Aweil community and sons and daughters of Aweil wear uniform can give him and his government hard time including falling his government. Solve Malong’s case peaceful is more better than worse coming.

people failed to understand the issue of Gen Malong and Kiir, and instead of getting the main cause they have gone far blaming innocent people of Gogrial meanwhile they know nothing about it.let me tell you the truth, Gen Malong problem with President Kiir was caused by Aweil politicians and not people of Gogrial please note this.and in reality people of Gogrial like Malong more than Kiir.

Exactly same is ongoing with Malong who didn’t fail or his duty. If he is fired he can’t kill million cows in celebration. What exactly Gogrial president want from him?

      Peter Mading,
When it started in Dec 2013, it was only Nuer Vs Government then Shiluk and Fartit Join one year later but Equatoria was still claiming that they are Neutral until 2016 where they Joined now in 2017 Dinka are opening their eyes too. It is very true that Kiir is using name of Dinka to loot country resources but most Dinka could not say no because of ’’Kongkooch’’.
