South Sudan’s Kiir sacks four armed opposition ministers

President Kiir, according to the order, broadcast by the state owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) removed Mary Alfonse Nadio Lodira, Mabior Garang, Dak Duop Bishok and Peter Adwok Nyaba. These officials were replaced with officials who included Ezekiel Lol, a former ambassador to the United States, who was one of the officials detained in 2013 when conflict erupted in the South Sudan capital, Juba.

Lol, initially seen as close to Machar, turned a foe after failing to secure a ministerial position and became an ally of Gai who failed to be appointed the petroleum minister.

The new officials, according to the presidential decree, were appointed on the basis of recommendations from the armed opposition leadership allied to the first vice president.

Michael Tiangjiek Mut is the new Minister of Interior, Ezekiel Lul (Minister of Petroleum Minister), Gabriel Duop Lam (Minister of Labour), Gabriel Thok Deng (Minister of Mining), Yien Tut (Minister of Higher Education) and Sofia Gai (Minister of Water Resources).

Alfred Lado Gore is one of the old faces who has been removed from the Ministry of Interior and appointed the new minister of Land and Housing. His other Colleagues, Richard K. Mulla and Dhieu Mathok Diing Wol, the secretary general of the Sudan People’s Liberation in Opposition (SPLM-IO) returned their positions as the minister of federal affairs and minister of imagery and dams respectively.

The Humanitarian Affairs Ministers, Hussein Nyot Maar has retained his position. Rieu Gatliek Gai has been appointed the new deputy Interior Minister and Natake Allan as Deputy Minister of Labour. A separate order was issued appointing Gabriel Yol Dok as advisor on Social Service Delivery, Michael Mario Dhuor as advisor for Reforms Evaluation and Ramadhan Laku for Good Governance.

Kiir relieved 50 MPs appointed by Machar, replacing them with the ones Gai nominated.

Parliament is expected to hold it first sitting on Thursday to formally select the new speaker for the transitional national legislative assembly, sources told Sudan Tribune.

Kiir’s hate for PhD holders like Riak, Lam, Nyaba, Hiteng, Dhieu is a inferiority complex hangover from Dr. Garang’s leadership. As a semi literate without even a BA/BSc, Kiir has felt like a school boy. He uses brute force where common sense and sanity is needed. He is a curse for South Sudan, a disgrace.

Jubaone, get it straight, USA is not rule by people with PHDs but reasonable people with normal degrees/certificate. If indeed those with outdated PHDs had capacity to think like real people with PHDs in USA or other advanced countries, they would have put their knowledge to better use. Such as inventing machines or policies leading up to improvement in economy. They are indeed empty minded dogs.

Jubaone, both riek n lam akol hv opposed Dr garang in 1991. Garang is well know in the world n respected but dogs you are talking about had once opposed him and later on shamelessly rejoined him again. Unless you born after 1991 otherwise they are unreasonable PHDs holder. Western university pay better wages. So if riek and lam think they r that knowledgeable, let them seek employment there. ..

So the reforms that were to be done through the ARCISS are brutally slaughtered by Salva Kiir using a cartoon in the name of Taban Deng Gai as new FVP.
A lot of war cabinet posts up for grab!
Real people with conscience like Dr Lam and son of our great leader Garang Mabior could not be cheaply hoodwink using bloody positions

You guys just need to joined Riek in the bush or find something else to do with your life! The most important thing is; we are moving forward with our peace process and if you guys and riek wants to create another fighting just like the one in J1 last month; then the international community are the ones to deal with you because you would be disturbing the peace!

I have questions meandering in mind. Actually why Nuer themselves who playing that game? I know there weren’t enough positions to accommodate everyone. Sharing 10 positions won’t even help either. Why Nuer people are disunited and disarray? I can’t comprehend that!, I think the recent development won’t give due respect from the eyes of South Sudanese, JCE are celebrating. No more war, enjoy that.

Before I read this article, I betted Mabior Garang would be on the list of ministers dismissed and he was there. Kiir and his thugs hate him to death. He is lucky he escaped with his life or he would have been killed.
