E. Equatoria state witnesses birth of headless goat

June 1, 2014 (TORIT) – Panic and fear gripped residents of Torit, the capital of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria state, when a goat produced a headless young one over the weekend.

Lodai Gasmiro, the goat owner, told Sudan Tribune he was equally shocked by the incident, which residents described as bad omen.

“I got into the kraal in the morning only to find the baby goat lying dead on the ground. I picked it up and brought it outside as the news spread around residential areas and hundreds turned up to witness the strange born goat without the head”, said Gasmiro.

“The headless young goat was born with all the body parts accept the head, but it had long ears like that of a hyena” he added

He said it was the first time such an abnormality had occurred among his goats, adding that most of them often delivered normally.

Meanwhile, the state veterinary doctor, Jackson Luka urged residents not to raise alarm over the matter, however strange it was.

“The anomalies might have been caused by internal effects to the mother of the goat [hence] affecting the normal growth of the young inside its mother”, said Luka.

He further explained such incidences usually happen either due to some external or internal effects that might have affected the development of the young goat as well as cross breeding and genes that might have not gone well with the fetus, prior to birth.

The veterinary also related the strange incident to humans, saying some mothers often give birth to children with additional fingers.

Davidika Ikai, a member of Ituka women association in Torit, urged citizens in the state to desist from overhyping the matter, saying anything strange that occurs in the state was God’s plan.

    Oh my Goodness!!
A goat with no head is really bad omen and means big hell is waiting for Equatorians, the war is coming to your area and the calmness that you live in now is just the quietness that precede the storm!
My advice to you Equatorians, just leave everything behind and evacuate the whole area immediately and run for your life before it is too late!!!

My fellow South Sudanese in E. Equatotia, such things are common. Even human beings have birth defects. This should not make you panic. All birth defects can occurs, both in humans and animals of which its causes can be environmental contamination or chemicals used.

This birth defect means the tribal Nuer Movement of Dr. Fool Riek Machar Teny has already ended in Torit in an effort to get support from Greater Equatoria. The issue of governance should have been discuss in Khartoum Peace Agreement of 1997 (KPA-1997) when Riek was in bed with the leadership of NCP before switching side to SPLM/A as usual in 2002.

I cannot understand why Nuer Movement often failed and ended dup in Khartoum. All this exercise of flexing muscles against your fellow South Sudanese would have been carried out against the successive Islamic regimes in Khartoum by massacring people in the Mosques, instead of Churches; destruction of property in RSS, instead of doing it in the Sudan; targeted killing of one tribe instead of Jaylin

Following somebody like Dr. Fool Riek Machar Teny is like joining a leaderless or a headless movement like the goat born in the Eastern Equatoria State. I have never seen, I don’t see and I will never see any leadership qualities in Dr. Fool Riek Machar Teny, who has been often rallying his tribesmen only to fight Dinka in the name of democracy or governance as if Riek’s record has any since 1991.

why did this happen in Torit? Torit means Republic of South Sudan birth cradle because it was where first bullet fired, first blood shed and first martyr listed for the quest of South Sudan as sovereign State on August 18th 1955 before Sudan independence the following year of 1956.the fist Martyrs like Fr. God honoring and God fearing democratic state incurs a curse being infected by the same disease they tirelessly diagnosed and wholeheartedly treated.Dinka BEG style of political system is not governing but ruling which chased S.Sudanese from Sudan under Arab mercy only from bad to worse and this is what our martyrs tried to communicate to us all as S.Sudanese as a headless nation without governor.
