S. Sudan’s Kiir reshuffles heads of public universities


March 19, 2014 (JUBA) – President Salva Kiir reshuffled the top academics of South Sudan’s public universities in a republican decree read out on state television on Wednesday.

The president relieved seven vice chancellors in a decree. In the next decree he appointed five replacements.

The new Vice Chancellors of South Sudan’s universities are: John Akec - University of Juba, Samson Wasara - University of Western Bar el Ghazal in Wau, Isaac Chuir - Upper Nile University in Malakal, Julia Aker - John Garang University in Bor
Agrey Ayuen - University of Rumbek.

Agrey Abate, was relieved from his position as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba and not reappointed.

The decree also appointed two deputies for each university, one for academia and another for administration and finances.

        I think relieving and appointing vice chancellor for the public Universities in the Country is the role of the president with the recommendation from the Minister of Education.

      Who is Samson Wasara? Where is he been?
      If he has been in Bahr el gazal university then he will not have much to change but if he was not there, then i have to tell him that the first thing he must look at is to get lecturers, construction of laboratory, Anatomy Room for the two colleges of Medicine and Vertanery science. Secodly,work on student living conditions,tuition fee and good libriary.

      Dear Jubawe,
      Lucky sometime is better than spending 4 years in University.Salva Kiir is the first lucky person amongst the people in South Sudan,and at the same time he is the most "boneheaded" leader in South Sudan too.Salva Kiir is far away from education instead of conforming a solid dialogue with his foes who are against him. I never seen one person holding every positions like this in my life

    After the Bishops Jubawe, he will be issuing it to any civilian who doesn’t support him, then to all the street dogs and final he goes to the hail.

      He created another Ministry also, Its going to be announced this evening. He created a Ministry of Presidential Whisky and Alcohol Production.

    Also people of South Sudan wants President Salva Kiir Mayardit to turn his reshuffling to All Undersecretaries in all ministries,by starting it with Undersecretary of Humanitarian affair and Disaster Management and Fredarick Lako,Security Man,GIB.These guys are wasting Institutions.

    Aweil is left behind when it come to provision of quality education. The university of Northern bahr el ghazal is there as picture. It is main for English and computer courses only.
    Some years back we are call foolish majority, but can we be kept foolish majority for how long? Are we known warriors? I shock to hear them calling for students who drop out from schools to join the army.
