October 15, 2013 (KHARTOUM) - The state owned Sudan TV and the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) signed a contract giving the latter the exclusive rights to broadcast its sports channel Al-Nilein.

The two parties signed the contract during the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) held between 13-17 September in Amsterdam , but it was announced officially announced on 10 October by the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh on 10 October.

In accordance with the signed contract the Sudanese sport channel which monopolises the broadcasting of the Sudanese Premier League, will be exclusively on the Arabsat bouquet.

The two parties did not disclose the amount of the deal. However the Sudan TV agreed in 2010 to pay $1750.000 per year to the national football league for the exclusive rights of broadcasting of the matches.

Sudan TV bought Al-Nilein in June 2013. The popular sports channel was founded by a Sudanese journalist, Yassin Ibrahim in 2007.

The national TV station is broadcasted by many satellite operators including Arabsat, Nilesta, Hot Bird, Eurosat, Asrea etc…
