September 13, 2013 (WAU) - The governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal, Rizik Zachariah Hassan, has appointed Ayuel Longar as his new advisor on peace and reconciliation affairs.

Longar replaced Effesio Kon Uguak who was removed from the post in 2010 due to his sour working relationship with the governor.

Hassan cited constitutional provisions in South Sudan’s 2011 transitional constitution which gives governors sweeping powers to remove and appoint cabinet ministers, advisors and heads of commissions and departments in the state.

He increased the number of advisors from seven to nine, most of whom are new faces.

Former Wau town deputy mayor, Kamil Wana Uraj, has been returned to his previous advisory post on political Affairs.

Brigadier-General Wol Dhel Thiep, commonly known in the area as Wol Maduong, has been appointed as security advisor.

Other members include Livio Gelego Bahara who has been appointed as an advisor on economics and self reliance; Andal Wadattalla, advisor on essential services affairs; Tereza Zackaria, advisor on gender affairs; Monica Sabino Madut, advisor on cooperatives, Paul Atuk, advisor on parliamentary affairs and Rev. Matio Michael as advisor on youth and sport.
