The complaining nation

By Garang Deng Mayath Kon

May 30, 2013 – No doubt that, some of the multiple problems surrounding our new nation; the Republic of South Sudan are being imported to us by our yesterday unfriendly house mates, our believed historical and traditional trouble-makers who became our today compulsory neighbors by the virtue of the natural laws.

Others roots of our troubles are those being inherited with the remainders of the defunct cracked old Sudan Besides the savages and ravages of the dammed Sudan long civil war. However, a lot of crises are our own hand-made products whose cure and remedy should be manufactured within our national industry of Southernisation of the conflict management and conflict solving to start right with those scars of 1991 struggle crises of SPLA Split and pass through the pre-independent, elections and its consequences and then summarized them up with our independence issues. This will constitute a strong platform where we may have some right pens, architects, to draw up the map of our journey together towards the nation building and the state establishing altogether.

However, one got wonder really to answer some questions which always raise themselves up on how we address and deal with our internal public issues. Our approaches of addressing internal problems are worthier than our trouble makers themselves that always end up in complaints, protest and random accusations among ourselves basing on the grounds of gossiping, testimonies of our close relatives, or our best supporters rather than tracing the facts-finding by digging hardly the roots causes of their origins as well as suggesting the possible solutions accordingly.

Many of us if not all are dissatisfied with the direction our public affairs are flooding. As a result, our rulers are quoted complaining, the Ruled are weeping, civil society groups are mourning, armed forces are whining, ordinary citizens are screaming, the wealthiest are shouting, the poorest are roaring, civil servants are crying about numberless of things went wrong, and those which are currently going wrongly and others things are expected to be on their way to stir up our whole affairs where we might loss not only our lives but we may also loss a land we are now quarrelling upon it.

Well, let us ask some silly questions: Why do we all complain inclusively: the Ruled and the Rulers altogether? To whom and from do we protest? we never answer ourselves rightly and honestly and sometimes we motivate ourselves either with some authoritative phrases or complimenting words such as we know it, shut up or be shot down, you Khartoumers Talkative guys (Khartoumers is an attributive to South Sudanese Who return from Khartoum-Sudan), a new born child needs some time to walk on its own legs without falling here and there, Motivations and dictations finish, we listen attentively with our two years on one hand while keep questioning on another hand including our motivators (The authoritarians) unconsciously about the past wrong actions and the current wrong deeds. How such things happen wrongly? Who made them happen wrongly and why so? How that came for the new independent people who moved away from other people out of complaints on the kind of rule applied upon them just few years later to became complainants and protesters on both sides of their own coin?. How that came for the new people to become interrogative nation in uninterepretative state. Why the Pastoralists are painting our national tree from the top with the animals’ dungs of their own cattle. And why so the Agriculturalists are cutting it down from the bottom with their sharpening axes in protest to the unilateral introduced paint rather than reprimanding their wrong partners about the necessity of consensus on painting such valuable common and shared asset. Why our Rulers are planting the most poisonous trees? And why are we blindly watering their fatal roots?, O! God, even the still unborn are subject to inherit though within their mothers’ wombs smell of demerit. Why and why so? Who is who? And what is what in this independent nation? No answer, no interpretation no reply except the well known motivations but this year we don’t like hearing them what should we do then? We do not know, we do feel crying, we do feel singing:
O! Dear O! Dear,
When the leaders are in wander,
The followers shall surrender,
For their doom is yonder,
O! Dear O! Dear,
Who can retire?
Rather than aspire,
The fire that sear,
So years we fear.
