September 11, 2012 (BOR) - Jonglei State governor, Kuol Manyang Juuk has sacked Bor County Commissioner, Maker Lual, and appointed his advisor on Land Utilisation, Agot Alier Leek in his place.

Agot was appointed for the second as an advisor on Land Utilization in June this year, before he was relieved from advisory post on September 10, the same day in which he was appointed as the commissioner.

The decrees from the governor’s office relieving Maker Lual and Agot Alier from their posts and reappointing Agot as Bor County Commissioner were announced simultaneously on Monday 10 September.

Attempts made by Sudan Tribune to reach both the new and former commissioner were unsuccessful.

MPs in the Jonglei State Legislative Assembly who represent Bor County said they were neutral about the move as the two men had equal abilities and skills.

The new commissioner is expected to be sworn in within the week.

Idea of appointment by governor should stop if we want democracy to reach the grass root level in South Sudan, the post of commissioner should be an elected person by the people of concerned county period

      You are right Pabaak!!
Governor appointed the pple for the benefits he get from them not the interest of the community at the ground, if the Governor hear the voice of the community at the ground, he could not even appoint the person who is not grew up in the area.
Ohterwise, innocent pple at the ground will suffer alot for Kuol’s appointment.

You’re absolutely right brother Pabaak. Appointing commissioners and not electing them into office in South Sudan is not fair and should cease. We must fully embraces the fairer system and not the bias ones to governs ourselves. Governors all over South Sudan are using it to serves their own interest and not ours. And President Kiir should do something about it.

I think what brought Maker as Commissioner last time is what let him to be relieved. There is no perminent seat in Government appointee you should stop insulting the Governor. The big deal you should focusing on now is the tribals rooted conflict in Jonglei State not the removal of commissioner.

          Majok Akuecbeny,
Learn to understand the message before bickering and farting
at other people .I don’t insult ur governor but just trying
to point out his mistake. If u are wise enough u should ’ve
understood me .ok? Am not against the appointment of of
new commissioner. You also pointed out tribal conflict,
yeah tribal conflict is caused becoz of weak &
poor leadership in Jonglei and Central
          gov’t.

This is unacceptable, governor Kuol made wrong move to Sack Bor County Commissioner Maker Lual one of the few active commissioners in the state and appointed Agot Alier. This appointment is so bias and bear "divide and rules" tactics. Kuol is doing reckless appointment like one seen in RSS government, sacking relative and replaced him or her with community member. This create hatred among communities

    WHY NOT MAKER ALONE??
There are many commissioners in Jonglei to be sacked out. for example, Akobo commissioner who is doing his own business with Akobo resources.

you are out of your mind or very far from Bor County its due to Maker Lual’s power that led to Anyidi people, Makuach people and Thaany to alot their land just compare that to the time of Jok Aring and Amour Kuol were there any payam allow to alot the land.We should appreciate our leaders with their effort.Maker Lual was not looting any body land or you mean do he would refuse a land given to him

Dr.Agot Alier must be accessible as a leader not to hide from Citizens to air out thier grievances and views. Maker office was NOT accessible completely. Ppl were not happy with his guards/receptionist or so call office Manager.Hon.Comissioner Dr.Agot Must clean his House FIRST before putting effort otherwise those guys will still practice old tradition.Relieve them all and you shal be great Leade

My dear friend, could that be the reason why he was relieved? Those particular clans you named were given right to alot their lands and what about the rest of us who do not have land to alot? I thought that Jonglei state was head-quartered in Bortown and it is the state authority that should have a right for alotment. Accepting to host the state and at the same time claims ownership is ridiculous

My fellows, there are certain authorities whereby the governor of state have right take out commissioner, if he/she thinks the commissioner is not doing his/her job well. It is not the first time the gov. Kuol Manyang has done so. So let’s slow people in criticism.

Dr,Agoot should be very careful because change does mean that people will keep quit, specially those who are dancing for him now will turn against him soon.Maker was not that bad he have done alot about the land issue which is the main problem in Bor County.so my advice is that give the land to community and supervise the process.
