July 10, 2012 (JONGLEI) – A senior member of South Sudan’s army (SPLA), Kuol Deim Kuol, said the military would be willing to fight the armed forces of neighbouring Sudan if talks over their disputed border do not reflect the interests of the government of South Sudan.

South Sudan and Sudan are engaged in talks, related to the consequences of South Sudan’s independence last year, in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Under negotiation are demarcation of the border, oil transit fees, the status of Abyei and other disputed areas. However, Kuol said that ill intentions on behalf of Khartoum were overwhelming the talks.

The UN and African Union have given the two sides until August 3 to come to an agreement including demilitarising the disputed border.

Speaking at independence celebrations in Bor on Monday, Lt-Gen Kuol told the public that the "struggle is not over" while the border remains in disputed.

Khartoum was still capable of dragging South Sudan back to war but "we are ready to confront them", he said.

If the disputed areas of Heglig/Pathou, Abyei and Kafia-Kingi and others were not resolved politically then "we will fight to remove" the Sudan Armed Forces from these area, he said.

"This present generation will not allow war to reach our coming generation again – we will complete this war before the coming generation. In our plan in the SPLA, the coming generation is aim to set up development of the country with high technology”.

Sudan and South Sudan delegations are expected to resume talks Thursday in Addis Ababa over security and outstanding issues. Last week, the parties have defined a strategic approach to make a breakthrough on the security matters.

Speaking about the rebel groups in the immense state, Kuol said that the fighters of the late George Athor have all being integrated to the South Sudanese army after a peace deal signed with his group.

The SPLA general also denied the presence of David Yau Yau in Pibor saying the army is prepared to deal with him if he returns to the county.

It is one thing to fight by just talking and it is another by being present on the battle field. Some like to talk and win imaginery victories without tasting the real battle itself. My cousin who was one of the commanding officers in heglig battles told me alot of the story. He said he could see clearly the difference. Yes prepare the army well and fight for our territorial integrity.

Tonj, ask the French News agent in Heglih who said dead bodies of SS soldiers were everywhere and uncountable. Ask the red cross who collected dead bodies of SS soldiers to burry them they know the number excately! It was more than 2500 identified by DNA and recorded by the SPLA.After all the poor soldiers had to run away. This is not their war. This the war of the thieves!I feel sorry for them.

I am very sure ALI is pure coward. In any battle, you should not expect to clean or comeback without causalities. This is our differences with Nyamnyam. What matter is our victory over the heglig battle. The destruction we did to oil facilities and the burning of the entire Heglig and the surrounding villages really matter. Not only those but capturing of coward SAF soldiers and 80+ military vihcle.

You are going to pay all of this to the single penny. Otherwise, you have to drink your oil!It doesn’t matter what you call me, morons only take account about race.At least Nyamnyam are dressed not running nacked!

Those SPLM officials being accused corruption must listen to president’s demand and if they were fighting because of this young nation then, they must accept to bring 4 billion back which will fund SPLA to defend their territory.

Khartoum regime is looking for oil after losing the green land Southern Sudan and there will be no any inch to go to North Sudan in any cost our territory will never go

Iam sick of these two words "war, war war and fight, fight" let the people test the peace first commrad. Whene Ethiopia and Eritea fought border war, they did not fight at the same year. They took rest first then they went to war after every one tested the beauty of being independent. Please, do not take attention of people from $4billion your commrad stolen. The nation need that money back.

Lt.genereral Kuol Dim has said everything. Abyei issue is a time bomb and we urge the international community to encourage the Arab nomad to leave the area if they want peace. Bashier must evacuate Panthou and the surrounding because it’s our area. Our brothers from Nuba are the one that we should be understanding in the issue of Heglig but not fake Arab intruders.
