Kiir appoints 78 ambassadors, directs immediate transfers

March 9, 2012 (JUBA) – South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir on Wednesday
issued a decree appointing 78 ambassadors earmarked for various
diplomatic and consular services in the country’s foreign affairs and
international cooperation ministry.

The list comprises of 10 grade one, 43 grade two and 25 grade three ambassadors. The announcement, made public on international women’s day, however, only saw eight slots allocated to women, raising
questions on gender balance.

Meanwhile President Kiir, according to the official government
website, has directed the minister of foreign affairs and
international cooperation to immediately transfer and assign the
ambassadors appointed in accordance with 7 March decree.
Details of the decree below;

1- Presidential Decree No. 18/2012 for the appointment of grade (1)
Ambassadors into the diplomatic and Consular service in the ministry
of foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of the Republic of
South Sudan, 2012 AD.

The Ambassadors are:

Directives are given to the minister of foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation to transfer and assign the ambassadors so
appointed in accordance with this decree forthworth.

2- Presidential Decree No. 19/2012 for the appointment of Grade (1)
Ambassadors in to the Diplomatic and consular service in the ministry
of foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of the Republic of
South Sudan. The Ambassadors are: –

The minister of foreign Affairs and international Cooperation is
hereby directed to transfer and assign the Ambassadors so appointed in

Ambassadors into the Diplomatic and consular service in the ministry
of foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of the Republic of
South Sudan, 2012 AD.
