October 20, 2011 (BENTIU) - The State Ministry of Finance in Unity state has launched the 2012-2014 strategic development review, which began on 14 October.

A team came from Juba recently to witness the reviewing of the strategic development plans in the state.

Kuong Ter Duol, Unity state director of planning and budgeting in the state ministry of finance, said that a team began the process at the state ministry of education on Friday and is reviewing the plans with the finance ministry, anti-corruption commission, national bureau of statistics and the ministry of information and communication.

“The target of this workshop was public administration, national resources and the infrastructure sector. It will be a continuous process until all the sectors are reviewed. We will be organising the final workshop which will include the state government,” said Duol.

Winrock International, which is working on capacity building with the government, presented a county data profile on 14 October. It is a tool to be integrated in the work plans as well as a mapping process which have been carried out to assist in the management of clashes between groups which have also been integrated into development plan exercise.

Duol said that in Unity state, development partners, which include non-governmental organisations, are assisting them in all planning processes. One of the main organisations involved in this process is the UN Development Programme.
