Volleyball: Agar-Marol defeated by Akon Buoi girls team

January 29, 2011 (RUMBEK) – The Lakes state volleyball association held a friendly volleyball competition in which the girls team beat their male volleyball coaches in Rumbek on Friday evening at Rumbek Freedom Square.

The coaches’ team known as Agar-Marol team was defeated by girl team known as Akon Buoi 62-58.

Rumbek Central County commissioner Matur Majok Magol, who attended match, said the girls should be encouraged to compete in the next World Cup or African Cup if South Sudan would becomes an independent state later this year following January’s referendum.

Majok said that “just keep on like that, soon you will be a best player in Southern Sudan because we are now getting our new country – soon we will play in World Cup or African Nations Cup, so I can say keep on”.

The coaches were very happy but a few were annoyed to lose to a girls team.

Coach Rual Majak said that “I am feeling very good because we coaches, we are teaching them for volleyball, so it is good to play us in volleyball – so now they are going well and I am guilty and in other game I will try to defeat them”.

According one coach members Mabor Kau Akec, his admitted defeat saying that, they were trying to give the girls a chance to defeat them as motivation so that girl feel to have defeated their coaches.

Adit Marial Buot, one of the victorious girls said “we have defeated our coaches in this game because they became old men – they are active in their heart in sport but their physical body is weak – this is a very good game and we encourage other girls to join us in sport so that we could show world that we can”.

Monica Anip Thuoc, said that she was very was very proud to have defeated her coaches. “They taught us everyday and today we have try our level best to defeat them in front face of our public of Lakes state.”

Anip said that “I feel very proud because we have win 2-1 that why I use to be proud and I want to give success to my sisters to do those thing in the world but not here in the Lakes state and with those old men, and even we want to have a power to play with call those boy to play with us in other day”.

    Bravo Volleyball coaches, you have shown and sincerely articulated the true sense of Lakes-Community to the world. Yes, for girls to excel socially and educationally we must have role models who think globally and act locally and there we have them in the likes of Mabor Kau. Let’s rise above our villages’ philosophies and restore the Lakes that used to glorify tolerance, dignity and unity of minds and hearts. Keep it up boys!
