Kiir calls for meeting of leadership of all southern Sudan political parties

November 2, 2010 (JUBA) – The President of the semi-autonomous Government of Southern Sudan and chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Salva Kiir Mayardit, has called for a meeting of the southern political leaders on 13 November 2010.

A recent ‘All Southern Sudan Political Parties Conference’ held in Juba, agreed that two meetings of the ‘Leadership Council’ – consisting of the leaders of all the south’s political parties – will meet twice before the region holds a self determination referendum in January.

The first meeting will take place on 13 Nov. before registration begins on 14 Nov. while the other one will take place on 8 Jan. 2011 before voting takes place on 9 Jan.

In a preparatory meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Vice President and Deputy Chairman of SPLM, Riek Machar Teny, the meeting also agreed to identify in the resolutions and recommendations of the recent conference issues that were of immediate priority before the conduct of the referendum.

In a press statement after the meeting, the SPLM Deputy Secretary General for Southern Sector, Ann Itto, said the committee would come up with a matrix and timetable outlining the priority areas that need to be discussed by the upcoming meeting of the Leadership Council.

All the leaders of the southern political parties are expected to attend the leadership meeting.

In the recent conference in Juba, all the southern political parties’ leaders resolved to put aside their political differences and embrace reconciliation to work together to achieve the aspirations of the people of Southern Sudan and Abyei through the referenda on 9th January 2011.

It is widely expected that the south will vote to become independent in the vote agreed as part of a 2005 peace deal between north and south.

H.E. GoSS Pres. Salva Kiir acts well when in Juba but he gives surprises when he is in Khartoum. Is it the hangovers of the New Sudan ideology that confuses him or what? Please South Sudan leaders try to help our president with this confusion between separation and unity.

Garang defines New Sudan as the 10 states of the south, Southern Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains.

It is good to have one solid decision for the referendum results.
Also we should work to counter act the tricks and the dirty tactics by NCP.

      James Okuk Solomon,

I feel compelled to reply to your comment directly. Your mind isn’t working like the mind of educated South Sudanese. Do you know why? Constant failure to analyze issues from undeveloped mind like yours. Never even try to tell the world that you are educated. You know nothing about New Sudan and its politics, self-determination of Southern Sudan and its politics, how to navigate between New Sudan and self-determination to achieve either one of them first based on the political attitude of the National Criminal Party (NCP) since 2005, leadership qualities, mission and vision. SPLM/A is a train whereby any visionless Southern leaders can board, get off and re-board before it gets to the final destination.

If you were to steer this train which is equipped with sophisticated components,
I guarantee with the kind of brain that you’re struggling to utilize in the political world, you would have derailed it in Khartoum for cheap political leadership without getting freedom achieved on January 9, 2011. A leader should be able to create conditions whereby he/she can achieve his freedom permanently from the oppressive regime in Khartoum.

Anya-nya I tried only in the name of the South although abrogated later by Nimeiri. Anya-nya II failed completely not only to mobilize southerners but to strategize the movement to avoid the failure of AAA of 1972. The leadership of SPLM/A has done its homework before the people’s movement began in 1983. It has learned a lot from all these failures of achieving freedom not only for South Sudanese but for all marginalized people regardless of geographical location.

If the condition does not allow you to achieve freedom for the whole country at a ago, why not step by step first (South Sudan including Abyei)? Nuba Mountains, Southern Blue Nile, Eastern Sudan and Darfur are in the pipeline. I know you don’t even get this. I am kind of wasting my time.

In order to achieve any political goal, start from where you can strategize, manage and achieve it rather than jumping off the liberation train and rushing to Khartoum just to achieve nothing but only to survive at the expense of the marginalized. Got it? You need more education on this. I hope one day you will get it if not now. Have a nice day.

Your fequent calls for the meeting of leadership of all southern Sudan political parties is a very welcome idea. May you keep up with that spirit of cooperation with your countrymen as far as referendum is concerned.
Let it not end by only two times, but to exist even after the independence of South.

      Mr. Solomon

Any attempt by Shulk (Nykang) or by any other ethnic group to impose their religion and culture on the South will be resisted, and it will cause brake up of the country. you’ll need still the vision of New Sudan to establish strong, peaceful, and stable Southern Sudan.

New Sudan’s vision wasn’t about unity under Jallaba state, but about struggle for freedom in the Sudan, or having two separate entities. Salva Kiir’s surprises phenomena isn’t something new and has nothing to do with the New Sudan. Please give credit to Dr. Garang

Dear All South Sudanese Politicians irrespective of your parties

In the first place I would like to appreciate GoSS president H.E Silva Kiir, thank you, thank you Mr.president for your charismatic style of leadding this nation, in fact unity of Southerners is paramount to chieve our relegated nation. Go ahead Mr.president to achieve more and history will tell at the end who have done what.

In my personal view point on this referendum scenarios, Khartoum government is now absolutely not willing for the referendum to take place as it was articulated in CPA, are you well aware of that? if yes, what is your next priority if referendum is delayed belony the stipulated date according to CPA accord? Of course you President, your vice, SSLA and all governor need to have action plan in any due delay. If delay may happen then you may not wonder of what to do, you can just declare what you accord ahead.

Let your strong confidence which your have seen from South Sudan people in previous historic national election be there for good time. The current government your are leading by then is quite differ from the previous expired system in the sense that its elected-government unlike the previous one. Therefore you need not to fear anything at all whether in term of material, physical and mental support. If Khartoum base government is not willing to consider the effective date for self-determination vote stipulated in CPA then beyony that date please you, SSLA and Governors declare our fate"indepedent South".

I want you to remain stronger and stronger, these zeros hours Khartoum base government will try to play magical and tactic roll to push referendum beyony articulated date which is quite against guideline of CPA signed in 2005 by late Dr.John Garang who was kill in Helicopter crash.

They are now preparing themselves days and nights time hours to produce baseless acuastion against God’s people Southerners that may lead in to disintegration of your strong and unified govenrment if not handled with care by you and your helpers. This time Mr.president you need to close your hear completely from those who are try very hard to confuse situations by any mean they can and focus only on achieving and living history of independent of South Sudan through that will be read Silva Kiir tremendous achievement in nation strughle.

    Silva Kiir Oyeei......Dr.Riek Oyeei.............SSLA Oyeei.......Governors Oyeei..................South Sudan oyeei

I want to thank President Salva Kiir Mayardit for calling another important Southern Sudanese political parties meeting. This is truly a remarkable and praiseworthy political moves on president Kiir’s part. President Kiir has truly shown seriousness and committment to bring all political parties on board so that we wait together for that Upcoming Self-determination Referendum which will determine our country’s political future whether it will remains as a United Country or the people of Southern Sudan are going to vote for their separate country.
If all the informations we are getting on daily basises are true, then I guess we are going to have our own viable political state in the Upcoming Self-determination Referendum.
Indeed, President Kiir has politically diagnosed what is sickening us and that is political divisions amongst ourselves. These divisions amongst ourselves have been used and continue to be used against us by Jallaba Arabs and indeed, we have lost many precious human lives as the result of all these political divisions.
Furthermore, our people have known life only as madhouse of violence and degradtion. Folks, if we stick together as one people, there is no reason why we are not going to achieve our long-cherished goal of being freed people. The unity of all these political parties is a political litmus test for long-term viability as free people as well as free nation-state of Southern Sudan.
Folks, our people of Southern Sudan have been exposed to a prolonged periods of political uncertainity, violence, and economic deprivation.
Given all the sufferings our people have they have been through all these years, it is of outermost importance that we put our outstanding and old-fashioned political differences aside for the greater good of our people. The time has come for our people to be free. And that time is now not latter.
The former President of the United States of America John F. Kennedy once said," Mankind must stop the war, or war will put an end to Mankind"
Therefore, I ardently appealing to the peace-loving, liberty-seeking and developmental-minded people of Southern Sudan to put an end to tribal cattle-rustling conflicts or else all these tribal cattle-rustling conflicts will put an end to all of us. Let us learn to live together as one people or else we shall all perish as dimwitted fools.
Inconclusion, The law of the living and natural God revealed in the full belief that," righteouness exalteth a nation while a sin is a disgrace to any people".
Therefore, in this regard, I ardently once again urge the people of Southern Sudan to put aside their long-standing political differences and join hands together to build a strong, God-fearing, more secure, and more moralistic corruption-free Commonwealth Christian nation-state of Southern Sudan based on our foundational Judaeo-Christian values and principles.
Finally, let not use education as a tool of exploiting of our people, but rather as a mean of improving our people’s wretch way of life.
May almighty God creator of heaven and earth shower abundant gracious bless upon the people of Southern Sudan and guided them into glorious glittering promised land of freedom, liberty, equality, respect for human dignity, and social justice for all magnificently great of Southern Sudan.

Having recently read many comments posted on this magnificently great website and Iam always puzzled and more perplexed to rationally comprehend the reasons we are defaming our shinning political reputation as the would-be people of newly-born nation-state of Southern Sudan comes January, 9, 2011.
In fact, great many of these well-accomplished writers are preaching double-dealing and backstabbing snakish Arabs-like hate-filled politics to bring down what they foolishly referred to as a Dinka-controlled government.
Furthermore, many of these accursed and chronically-scared to death villanious traitors are even beating the drum of more destabilizing war, more bloodshed and more displacement of innocent and law-abiding civilians from their dwelling houses.
Therefore, the question person of great conscience would ask are: Why are we beating the drum of more distasting and destabilizing war after we have successfully won the internationally acclaimed Comprehensive Peace Agreement? Secondly, what would one gains by preaching more violent death for our long-enslaved People?
        Fellow Citizens,
Since we have emerged out from generational- 22- year long political civil war never ever fought before in the history of continental Africa, I think and do truly believe that we should work together to promote and encourage spirits of brotherhood, solidarity, Unity, and peace amongst our people as we are approaching defining moment country history.
Moreover, let us put our long-stand political differences aside and work together to build a strong, God-fearing, more secure and more moralistic corruption-free Commonwealth Christian nation-state of Southern Sudan based on our foundational Judaeo-Christian values and principles.
Indeed, our people of Southern Sudan have greatly lost many precious human lives, experienced destruction of property, and dwelling houses burnt down during the tedious long liberation struggle and we have to give them time to enjoy this relative peace.
Finally and last, but not certainly the least, let us stop preaching down-marketing, diversionary, backstabbing tribal hatred politics that have reduced us into the lowest common denominator in the scale of contemporary human beings. Let us encourage, promote and emphasis our shared commonality and de-emphasis our long-standing political differences for the greater good of our people.
        Fellow Citizens,
Since Sudan got her independence from the incompetent, racist, and immorally corrupt Anglo-Egyptian colonial admininstration on January, 1, 1956, Sudan has been marred in a never-ending bloody resource-draining political civil wars, violence and nightmarish economic deprivation. Folks, since Sudan is abundantly endowed with vast natural resources, we should have used them to enhance and improve the nation’s depressing inflation-wracked economic, provide jobs, stabilize the government and improve the living standard of our ordinary people.
Unfortunately, all these natural resources have been wastefully spent by corrupt pariah Arabs-led regimes. Folks, the great American civil rights leader Martin L. King once said," any religion that only stressed the souls of Men and not their social and economic condition is spiritually moribund religion a waiting burial". Therefore, in this regard, fellow citizens, the National Congress Party-led pariah and corrupt regime in Khartoum is politically dyfunctional and not worthy the support of Southern Sudan and other marginalized people of Sudan due to the fact that it has failed to deliver the badly needed essential services, provide adequate security, provide good governance, and financial transparency.
Finally, May almighty God creator of heaven and earth bless the long-suffering and peace-loving people of Southern Sudan and guided them into the glorious promised land of freedom, equality, respect for human dignity and social for all.
