By Manyang Mayom

October 25, 2010 (RUMBEK) - Three people died this week when hyena’s attacked remote villages in remote areas of Lakes state in southern Sudan, according to a local official.

Four people were injured in the attacks which occurred in Abang payam (ward) in the Yirol West and Dungdhiei village in Malek payam of Yirol East county.

Yirol West County commissioner, Makur Kulang Liei, said that the three killed were a child, an old woman and an old man.

Four people had been admitted in Yirol West hospital suffering severe wounds, he said.

Commissioner Kulang said that county authorities were deploying police forces in the area to hunt down the hyena to prevent anymore attacthem from attacking anymore villagers in remote areas, which normally occur late at night.

Sudan Tribune tried to contact the Wildlife authority in south Sudan but they refused to comment.

Last year, a court hearing 24 murder cases heard that a hyena has involve in the one of the killings.

In 1988, a hyena attack killed a number of people in Yirol.

Locals should be stronger than the Hyenas, Hyenas are the most coward creatures ever there are.

Hyenas are stronger than the locals because if they tend to be wild, and they have some other years that they can people like this. I want to assure our people at home that the elders have to do something such that to prevent this issue.

That is a strategic ordeal done by these wild Beasts, Yes, hyenas have been known to kill humans!!. It is a common practice in many parts of Africa for Hyenas to eat aged and young people when natives may sleep outdoors of their huts in the village because of the heat, often at the edge of the forest. if hyena cannot find wild animals, and is very hungry, it can attack people.

This is so far the most unusual news.

I have never heard of a hyena killing a human being other than goats and calfs. The Police and the Wildlife should invesitage this incident properly, otherwise, these are not hynas propabely human beings turning into a hyena against a certain clan or family in Yirol. No..No..NO.. Watch out..Find out.. As stated by one of the writers that hyena is the most coward animal, has nothing to do with the human beings. Hyena can only eat a dead human being NOT the one alive...Sorry for that and plse accept my condolence.

Hyenas attacking people? Oh God, why on earth are you punishing us so severely. Internal conflicts and now wild animals, why reduce our population so much yet one other major event awaits us.

Yirol people should bear in mind that hyenas are fearful animals and should not be allowed to threaten the villagers.

    You are good for nothing.
