May 5, 2010 (WUNROK) — Officials from Sudan People’s Liberation Army in the regional capital of Juba have today on Wednesday 5, down played allegations of troop defection in the southern state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal on Tuesday.

On Tuesday 04, sources alleged that a rebellion had taken place within SPLA forces in northern Bahr el Ghazal under anonymous Brigadier General, purportedly acted in support of General Athor Deng, under instructions of Major General Dau Aturjong Nyuol. The report had been published by different media outlets.

However, General Dau, in an interview with Sudan Tribune, on the same Tuesday 04, quickly dismissed any link to rebellion alleged to have place in the southern state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal. He said he does know any Brigadier General he has instructed to support allegations and blames involving General Athor

On Wednesday, Colonel Malaak Ayuel, head of information and public relations department, in the office of the SPLA spokesman, at the SPLA General headquarters in Juba, equally dismissed allegations of defection within SPLA forces alleged to have taken place in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

Take it from me that none of our soldiers in Northern Bahr el Ghazal has defected let alone allegations of departure of Brigadier General, Colonel Malaak said adding they do not even have any verbal reports of such nature from relevant authorities in the area.

"Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, General Paul Malong Awan Anei is here in Juba and has never reported any security concern in the area. He would have not also left the area and come to Juba if he was aware of such big incident because it is a security issue. He is the head of security in his state and would have been the first reliable official to report it to relevant authorities in the government of southern Sudan, colonel Malaak adds.

The military officer who talked to Sudan Tribune as acting official spokesman of the SPLA, since General Kuol Deim Kuol, the SPLA official spokesman is out of the region, also warned against publication of unverified information. Such information should have been verified from relevant authorities before it was published, he said.

Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Wol Majak from Juba also blamed media for publication of what he termed as confusing allegations. I do not blame the source but the publisher because they did not verify authenticity of information they received, adds Lieutenant colonel Wol Majak

"We have an office responsible dedicated to verifying and give correct information here in Juba and at SPLA division headquarters in all the regions," he said in reference to office of SPLA official spokesperson.

First thing to do before the USA funnel any money into the South for development is to convince George Athor return home. He is the prodigal son and he is welcomed back anytime. He and his forces can be forgiven like Riek and Lam.

There is no reason for him to burn down what he has been building in the last 21 years of war. His rebellion will have little or no fruits because most of the Dinka including the Ngok people are wise and they will stay home without joining him. He should come back before it is too late. He should not let himself be misguided by Lam and Bashir. They will use him and abandon him anytime.

First of all let Gearge Athor makes sure the election is not end for this year, there will be another ellection after four years if we still democracy.

Now i can not blaming him because due to indirect democracy of this goverment that is why the still put this evil man Kuol manyang to power again,he did win the ellection but due to this poor GOSS they did not even count the boluts the just only put their own person, whom the choose by themselves not cillians. That is what brought defection because they did accomplish they civillians interest.

Padiet Gagag, this what should have told every including Athor, that south sudan elections are infinite, if Athor have lose today, to kuol manyang , it would not mean that he would lose again to the same person in 4 or 5 year time.

and to those who rivalled against SPLA whether under the orders of Athor or not, should put into minds that south elections are endless. the first thing they should put in their mind is that indefferent between kuol and Athor should not let them into confronting SPLA which the are part of it.
both Athor and Kuol do not represent the young generation of southerners.
we have allready lose two generation to illetracy because of those damn arabs wannabes in the north. we should not let ourselves be carry away by whether kuol or Athor won election or not. all we carry about at this particular time is separation of south from north.
whatever that had occured in the election should not carry us away from main course.

to tribal supporters of leader himself rather than what he can delivered. read carryfully to this, if my biological father lose election to his opponent at this last stage of freedom from north scums(arabs wannabes) whether it is rigged vote, i would never dare to riot on behavious of him, simply because election is nothing to lives of southerners compare to separation of south from north.

so to every body including Athor himself, defeat in south election is far less compare to what Athor himself have fought for (independent south).
i urge all supporters of Athor and himself to think about lives of southerners if we fail to achieve independent because of minor indefferences in election.
i would 100% percent joint Athor’s demonstration when he did so after independent south in event that the vote was rigged in jonglei.

independent south is the first choice than election rigging.
so south should refrain from revelion and focus their energy on independent.

        long live south indepedent.

        padiet,
if you hate the elected governor Kuol Manyang who is elected democratically by the people of jonglei state then blame yourself and your primitivity. in civilised world, whoever, elected in democratic election remains a legitimate leader.

This defection of troops to support George Athor madness is not good at all. The SPLA must respect the will of Southern civilians, if Koul Manyang elected though there was a fraud and rigging involved, George Athor must keep silent because there are amany elections a head coming soon.
He cannot destroy south sudan with one error, if he is really a veteran he would better challenge the SPLM by using language rather than firing bullet to his comrads.
George Thor is an agent of devil at this time.

      Dengtaath,
you partly hit the nail on the head but there was nothing wholly like rigging or manapulation of the results here in jonglei state. take example of John Luk Jok a very important splm figure and member of Splm political bureau lost the election to Taban Juch indepedent candidate but the splm did organised any rigging through NEC.however, we should talk truth and truth shall set us free.
lets all know that Athor had a plan before election. he has deep conflict with Gier
      over the khorfulus name.

It is good if everything reported turn to lie. Nobody want any kind of disaster but I am still blamed the government of South Sudan. This matter happen because of every negligent decision they make. Even now I am still worry because any solution they going to take will likely to turn disaster. But thanks God, may God help that poor government.

Like President Obama once said, War must be a option sometimes, but can not be first option. Dinka learn from bullet and not through negotiations. so, let them kill themselves and the rest of the Southern will watch from distance. The reason George is being like this is thinking that Nuer would back him up, but these time there will be no one who is going to help him. Let Dinka fight over leadership since they have no idea that leadership under democracy is being selected by the the people.

      King,

southerners are not satisfied with what the GOSS has done for the last five years, but violence or overreaction is not a solution to the problems. uncle Athor decision is one of the stupids a man who fought for 21 years civil war can make at this time. it is a waste of life of Khorfulus young people with no benefit to the county and other counties in the region or state will be working on development issues while Khorfulus will be busy with stupid war issues. i didn’t know that Athor don’t care about khorfulus future and that is why he started that childish war because of governorship position.

I am not related to Gen Athor, but not blaming him. I am blaming the government of Southern Sudan. The government was the one who provoked Gen Athor by ordering military of Doleib Hill to go and disarm Gen Athor and his bodyguards. That news about arrest of Gen Athor triggered disagreement and military personal start shouting each other that why You heard that a lots of seniors officers were killed. So in this case how come you treat veterans like. I known Gen Athor can’t be treated like Gen Gore of Central Equatoria. In addition people like Gier Chuong and Kuol Mangang talk junk behind door and they recommended to the government of Southern Sudan that Gen Athor should be arrested. Now Gier Chuong and Kuol Mangang has trigger this conflict. I wonder is this how they going to rule the people. I known Kuol Mangang Juok for his past conflict with SPLM/A Gen every ranks above and beneath him fight him until rest of them detected from the movement. I know Gier for his jealousy about Gen Athor for his good of fighting our enemies. Gier Chuong don’t have any significant achievement other then shouting innocents people in squads and his killing more people now in Juba with those pinheads military Police. I wonder how far they going with those blood on their hand and now they are making more troubles that can take away more innocent live. Please Dengcol don’t called your uncle a stupid Gen. He has a right to defend himself from those pinhead above mention and unless you are one of those of Gier and Kuol. Please no denying about this information because public was watching and listening when Gier Chuong came up with those accusation to Gen Athor without proved and confirmed. This government is very negligent in whatever they are doinng. They get their own hidden agenda instead of serving people. Let see how they going to success with evil heart and greedy.

        Dear King!

Iam very sorry for your repugnant comment, but anyway don’t plead guilty that you are not related to Athor no body will irk you down buddy, the world is aware and the world have heard all the evils act your uncle Athor has been doing to SPLA soldiers since then, he started exploiting soldiers physically and financially during his time, now this days he has missed all the lamp sum money for soldiers he used to carry to his house in Khorfulus in bag and kis and not to the NCB corporative, very primitive, he was also bamboozle like a village boy to aim for wives did he benefit? hope not, he has been marrying and marrying almost near his grave, sorry to know that bro, but be very intellectual coz what Athor was doing was a really evil, how can he choose to attack the SPLA barrack and not SAF if he is a really SPLA veteran, Just wait for a second, his final cry is coming soon, a Nuer looter, Nuer will one day hang him alive before SPLA could even reach him..

Look! look! look! all the independent candidates have accepted defeat despite inconveniences would you call that a intelligence? and if he is not satisfy why not heading to the court. Yet piercing the back of our nearly independent state is that not a madness or calling it a wise song would please your uncle guess not bro, all the deaf and blind are all aware now of this man evil acts. Stand free boy..

Remember this is a matter of life and death plus you are going to lose all the enjoyment You are enjoying now in Juba looting public money with your uncle. Keep doing what you are doing but it going to nip you at the butts. You better shut up and disappear like your brother Dinka Boy. You make it worse by running your mouth on this website. Hi King!

Be advice, that Athor as a person is not bad but all his deed and action are totally bad and archaic work sincerely, with the recent episode that he did, it has blemished all the good work he has done to the SPLA in twenty-one years.

The other thing is, if Athor was not a fool he should have not hasten for leadership as an independent candidante, and be inform that, all those who stand independently are weak-hearted people and the lack patient, Iam uncertain that they would make a good governors, thank God that they were all aborted, wait for the weakness and complain that will follow Bakosoro the elected independent candidate of WES, what do Athor Lack? if it is money then he had had enough, if it is leadership he has been leading the soldiers since day one, two till the end of twenty-one years in 2005 what next, is the title of Major general less than governor? I don’t think so, he should understand that there is no shortcut to leadership.

Why Athor can not be a governor, if you can or any one out there can argue my point that Athor can make a good governor then am challenging him or her under the following arguments, what qualification do Athor have? which Institute or University have he undergone? does Athor have a good public representation, very sensitive, Athor is always rude, poor in administration, egocentric, tribalist, and a travel maker, where do you think he may fit there in that state, I don’t think that he may be able to manage, the diverge views of all the Jongeleist, Athor have more love of money which is not a tolerated part of leadership in the civilian post, unless keeping this guy in the military so that he continue his looting without complain.

However, patient is always the best thing of any leader, coz in leadership there would be a lot of retarded individuals who may wanted their interest to be made and if not they may cause chaos in your leadership life, but do you think Athor may thro off his temper, do you think with his lil head (Athor) can he make a good governor? I don’t think so, so let gives chance to the governor elected and Athor should have wait for the new post the government was preparing to give him, but now he is going to be in ?????????????????????????? Cya buddy, it is not I and u but South Sudan issues don’t take it at your hand, I like keeping myself in to my ink and I mean being very profession. Thank and take it easy, relief your uncle.
