April 11, 2010 (JUBA) – An independent candidate running for gubernatorial position in the oil-rich Unity state has reported wide spread irregularities on the first day of polling in the sate.

Angelina Teny

Angelina Teny who runs for governorship against the incumbent caretaker governor, Taban Deng Gai, on Sunday, April 11, said her agents had been blocked by security forces from participating in monitoring the polling stations.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune from the state’s capital, Bentiu, Teny accused the SPLA Maj. General Dor Monyjur in particular for blocking her agents from inspecting the ballot boxes in order to make sure that they were empty.

“Maj. Gen. Dor Monyjur is deployed with SPLA soldiers to intimidate my agents at polling stations,” Angelina said, an action she attributed to favoring the incumbent governor Taban Deng.

She added that in some areas soldiers have dressed in police uniform in concealment to guide the stations and intimidate her agents and that such interference by security forces is widespread across most of the state counties.

Angelina further explained that thousands of names are already missing or misplaced in different unknown stations far from where the voters were originally registered during the registration process about six months ago.

She said a lot of names may not be found by voters because some are taken to stations far away from the stations they were previously registered, making it even difficult to know where one’s name is transferred to.

She further explained that a complete list from one station in a given Payam may instead appear in a station in a different Payam. “These have brought a lot of confusions among the voters,” she lamented.

The irregularities have also affected some senior government officials, an example of which is the Vice President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, who had to look for his name for more than three hours in Bentiu town. Machar previously registered his name in Bentiu 1 Station during the registration process but could not find his name on polling day because it was transferred to a different station. He had to search through many other stations to finally find that his name was instead posted to station number 5 in another corner of the town far from Bentiu 1 Station.

“If it could take the Vice President of the land three hours to find his misplaced name, then how difficult would it be for the ordinary citizens to find their misplaced names from unknown stations,” asked a voter who could not also find his name from the same station he registered from.

“I may not find my name for the rest of the three-day voting period because it might have been taken outside of Bentiu town if not deleted,” he added.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) had earlier made potential voters to believe that during polling day each registered voter would find his or her name in the same station he or she was registered from.

Angelina also accused the electoral body in the state of allowing boys and girls as young as ten years old to vote, adding that personal ID cards in many instances were not asked from voters.

Attempts to contact the state elections committee and army command for comments have failed.

More than 16 million voters in Sudan are expected to go for the polling beginning on Sunday and ending on Tuesday in the first democratic elections in 24 years. The electoral process is however feared to have involved massive fraud, prompting some of heavyweight opposition parties to boycott the polls.

No, you are the waste of energy, and space. What a waste of sperms you are!!! Losers are crying already.

You Kim Deng, was very enthusiastic that elections should go on so that Taban Deng Gai could lose governorship of Unity State. Now that your candidate has sensed losing the battle after only 10 voters cast their votes and starts crying, you call the elections a waste of money and energy.

Two faced people will always remain with no face in the end. You are just a trouble maker, and you should be ’exported’ to Somalia. The pirates may need there may need your services

        Dear readers,

Beautiful Angelina Teny has told all the facts. This fake election is nothing but a child’s play.

I am disappoined with late John Garang who allowed elections as a prerequisite for referendum. Who needed elections any way when another election will be conducted right after referendum in the South.

We are just doing elections for the sake of it, just to get over it and focus on referendum.

Angelina Teny will also win the elections no matter how others want to rig it. She is too popular to lose.......

Gartwech, i don’t want to criticize you, but it was supposed not to describe elders women as a beautiful because they are like your mothers she has children at your age it doesn’t make sense to me socially, as she is a girl but not.

Lobengula, you are free to chaos with any one as you want, its was better not to touch elders ladies, because they are not as you think they are at your mothers ages.

My young brothers, politic is politic but characters are difference from politic, in this case if people tended to abuse elder women/men out of politic, do every one think we didn’t abuse our mothers? where is the respect which African tribes are popular in Sudan are we going to destroy it for politic reason ?

No, politic will end tomorrow by marriage as those of women are your wives mothers if you are not married. So we shouldn’t go further than politic.

          Hello Gatwech
You can also blame Garang for negotiating the CPA and accepting Riek back if that is what you have to do.
Anyhow, you fought your heart out against the liberation only to criticize what could be achieved understand the circumstances you aggravated.
Because when the peace was negotiated, you were still clearing your mess with Arabs, let me inform you that the arabs in Machakos brought up the election with hope that it will cause chaos so that referendum is pre-empted. And the SPLM could not get away since Riek claimed to the international media he defected because he needed democracy in the bush.
Anyway, you better advice your Nuer brothers/sisters that they should not betray the course as they did in the 90s, otherwise, they will not survive it again.
The southerners are fed-up with your lack of direction as a community.

My friend, I looked Angelina Teny’s picture, she is supposed to Miss Southern Sudanese Girls instead of wasting her time for no reason. You can’t do politic without foundation. What foundation is she persuing right now? Did she mean foundation from her husband Feign Riek Machar Teny or what?

After all, Angelina Teny, is not in suit of Governorship. I recommended her to be a governor of Dr Riek Machar Teny in bed not a governor of Unity State. Shame on you.

First of all i will agree with angelina on the voters irregularities, it is everywhere you will not find one state or county where people are not complaining of irregularities, even in Juba ministers and governors never found their names on the vote lists. This is a big error from the NEC and very reckless un expectted peformence from educated people, they have let down the Sudanese people in general, people put trust in them but they have totally under-performed, because they should have put the names up two days before the elections so that all can be double checked by voters and by NEC staff.

Now about the 10 year old boys and girls voting, not sure if that is true because you can know a 10 year old even without looking at their ID.

But about the Angelinas agents being prevented from accessing polling stations, that should be directed to the NEC, the agents are all provided with special idenfitication cards for the polling stations, so they should have obtained those cards earlier and have it ready with their names and numbers on it, so when they access the polling station they show their number and they will be there without even anyone know which party they belong to, but if angelinas agents failed to obtain special access cards from the NEC then unfortunately they cannot be let into the stations, so that will be their fault that they did not do that earlier.

However i will agree that the issue of names being transfered to different areas or towns instead of were they registered is a serious issues which should be carried out to the NEC in form of official complain as per the rules an regulations of the elections. the rules allow for complains where names are missing or severe irregularities happens in specific constituency, then the elections is to be done over again within 60 days, so Angelina should not down all the irregularities and follow the process to put her complains forward using the NEC rules and demand a revised register and more time.

But this is what happens when people are disorganised and under-estimate the difficulties of elections.

Stop complaining mss Teny, the problem is everyone else’s including your oponent there is no need to fuel up your extreme base to think that the election is be rigged to favor your oponent. The entire Sudan is facing this problem, and thus it should not be used an excuse for if one is contemplating loosing.

    Kim Deng, Gatwech, and likes

SPLM as aparty, we did agreat mistake that we sound people will condemn. I have written many comments about the withdrawal of Yasir Arman.

I believed that the SPLM leadership want to the wrong path and it seems that they are all except fews who are against are short sighted because they miscalcalculate the consequences of referendum in 2011.

Many people thought that referendum is what they want ,and they totally don,t want election which was the prequisite of it. If SPLM of today is not blind, then their should be no such to occure in the eyes of South Sudanese.

How come the referendum will be free while the election is not important?

Yes, Dr Garang see thing futher beyond reasonable doubt. We missed him indeed. Some people need to know that we are supporting election so that the referndum will be in abetter shape in 2011.

Now, we tashed election, then the only thing that we need to do as Southerners, we don,t want coward people to run and join enemies like the ways most of other South Sudanese did in the war.

According to me, i have no problem of Arman wining the election because that is what we all want so that we can relieved the suffering og marginalized people in Suda.

Or if Bashier win the election then we all southerners had obey CPA by performing elections, and we can be ready for referendum with the laws in our hands that Bashier can not break.

Now, Bashier can break the laws of referendum because SPLM broke election laws.

You better talk about Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior who is running after Kenyan boyfriends as she has missed Garang’s manhood. Please get her a husband.......Or she is a shame to you people of Bor town if you allow Kenyans to play with her body.

    Dear readers,

Particularly to those undisciplined and uncultured Bor-Dinka boys and girls who lie and insult with utmost disrespect. Please respect Madam Angelina Jany Teny, the wife of Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon and mother of well raised up handsome/beautiful children, some of whom have already obtained their masters degrees in well respected universities in Europe.

They got married in late 1970s from respectful and popular famililies in the Nuerland, Liech state. Angelina’s father was a parliamentarian after the Addis Ababa Agreement while Dr. Riek’s father was the paramount chief of Leer and Ayod counties combined. They were both initially educated in Khartoum in 1970s.

She is a well British educated woman and soon to come first lady by 2011. Please you can even appreciate her and her husband, Dr. Riek for bringing up their children in civilized and futuristic manner unlike John Garang and Rebecca Nyandeng who have produced stupid kids, drug addicts like Mabior and Chol who only roam streets, drunkard and uneducated.

Please lying because of hatred is uncultured and should stop it. This family is the greatest.

Traitor Riek Machar was kicked out by Angelina teny long time ago. Are you denying butt the bitch was a girl friend to William Nyuon Bany in 1980s.

She went to Riek after the death of our honorable CDR William Nyuon. and because William spend long time in militray.

Mr friend, that was the reason traitor Riek look Emma McCain as his wife because he has no wife bt then, but luckly she was crashed in Nairobi.

Now, you don,t know traitor riek get another prostitute in Juba and she aways said that she married to riek more then ten years. Now, why you deny that traitor riek familiy is the familiy of prostitute. I heard more about the white lady now in Bentiu than Angelina. Brothers and sisters check Riek facebook and you guys will understand what iam talking about.

A respected leader can not at all do those usless than can disgrace him. Is that the familiy Nuer are prouding of? wow!

      Gatweak,

I am stunned by your underscored comment, not only of the offensive languange used is my only problem but also attacking unconcerned person like Mrs. Nyandeng de mabior without element of the cause is a target hate. If I am not wrong to say it right, the head start of the issue came through media when "Angelina Teny" addressed "elections irregularities" from Unity state. She was voicing out possible road locks that are likely to abuse current elections into a single mess unless the Goss steps in immediately and handle those issues fashionly with care. In other end on the website, "Labunga" made his own comment on what he thought was his personal view point for the elections in Unity and to Mrs. Teny in particular who then aired out the news to media. Nonetheless, you came in as a third party with some contradictory comment on Nyandeng and the claim that you made that she has "Kenyan boyfriend" which really cuases me to be in the mix. What do you know about Nyandeng?

What is the connection between Labunga and Mrs. Garang Mabior in Bor? The man you had failed to response to sound like Equatorian man, but what brings Garang between his comment and your response is beyond the mistake you obviously made.
It would have been of a fair and honest judgment if you did response directly to a guy who made that comment about Angelina the language you like; however, you had come to attack Nyandeng de Mabior without anything you might prove to us beyond this naive comment. You are mentally disabled. How come that you deflected away Labunga’s comment while replacing it with something of evil in which your tongue is not a shamed to say?
Nyandeng made no coment on the web nor anything of the debating subject is related to her neither. Your attack is a pure of undiscovered issue Mr. Labunga touched while may be not aware of it.

Do you think that all Southerners who disagree with you most of the time are from Bor?
Do you also think anyone who thinks like you is from Bor?
And then why not Nuer your own tribe doesn’t think like you?
Why don’t you count yourself to Bor the way you think if people like Labunga are citizens of Bor? Why not?

Count yourself first before the crazy rest!
Please, please, please leave Mrs. Garang alone!

Mrs. garang has no Kenyan friend, you get it right and that thing is a big lie my friend. Talk like a human being!

Mrs Mabior and Mrs. Machar are not wrestling for any post in Unity State, which might allow you to wage their political capabilities through the internet of who is better over the other for political gain...there is nothing like that in our records. Do I need to attack Angelina Teny like you did to Mrs. Garang? I don’t think so. I do respect her and her God’s given gender, her womanhood.

You better leave that quiet lady Nyandeng de Mabior alone!
You discuss your issues that are good for you and your group the way you want but don’t try to paint other people who are not involved in your matters ugly; it is something that you do often in your rotten head. What a bizarre, incompetent, and an uncultured guy are you on the planet!

You are an underworld person I have ever known living here with us! Human stupidity is a self-distruction, you are distroying yourself beyond no recovery.
You stop preaching hatred among people through what you think is right.
You redeem yourself from your daily wicks. You need to be born again for your inner spirit is broken! That is the main reason why everything falls apart from you all the time. You need to rise up yourself and bring back the lost dignity that will make you human creature once again.
