January 12, 2010 (RUMBEK) — The Lakes State Electoral College Committee Chairman Abraham Mayen Kuc has officially announced the SPLM candidates nominated for the post of governor and for the geographical constituences in the April 2010 nationwide election. The incumbent governor, Daniel Awet Akot, was not chosen to stand for the post.

Nine candidates including the seated governor had been seeking the governorship. On Monday, however, the SPLM selection committee chairman announced only five candidates managed to meet the criteria required by the National Election Commission.

"We used SPLM guidelines for nominating our SPLM candidates — also popularity and the term one had spent in serving our movement were taken as factors, as well as behaviors were considered," said Mayen Kuc.

It is now up to the SPLM Political Bureau in Juba to decide which candidate to choose to contest against the other parties in the April voting.

After the results were released at a press conferenceat Palm-tree Hotel, the present governor prevented the announcement over state government-owned Radio FM-98 and he immediately called an emergency meeting in the SPLM Secretariat Hall, whereupon all members declined to show up. Awet is SPLM chairman at the state level, elected in 2007 through formation of the SPLM congress.

The five candidates selected for consideration by the Political Bureau are:

    Dear readers,

"The incumbent governor, Daniel Awet Akot, was not chosen to stand for the post".
The best and sincere decision south sudanese made since the appointment of Akot in Lake state. I believe they based this right decision on Awet’s non electability or popularity with electorates in Lake State. Most of the governors were generals, and that military mentality never leave their mind, thus the reason for many chaos & violence in the region.

Kiir should relief that militia man, Paulino Matip from the Deputy Commander of SPLA post and send his sorry ass back to Bentiu. He does not deserve that post since he was fighting SPLA forces during the war. SPLM/A should not be rewarding those of Paulino Matip and his militias for killing SPLA soldiers during the war. H.E. Daniel Awet Akot should take the Deputy Commander post.

        SPLA.

I do agree with you. The Mitias of Paulino Matip Nhial and Nyagat Riak Machar Teny are now still attacking they Communities of Bhar al Ghazal particular in Tonj County. In this Month alone, the Bentiu of these Nyagat armies by another Nyagat Riak Machar Teny and looting civilians Paulino Matip Nhial have attacked Tonj East killing 139 people and thousand people were been seriously left wounded and they took 45,000 Cows and last two weeks on Saturday again, they came one week after they killed 139 in Tonj East and they repeadely attacking Kongor Community and Lou Mawien Ariik of Dinka in Warrap State meanwhile, these Nyagat people of Riak Machar Teny and another Nyagat Paulino Matip are laughting with Salve Kiir Manyardit in Juba.

SPLA. We Dinka people have been sold out by Salve Kiir Administration otherwise, there is no need for Salve Kiir Manyardit to keep quite while the Bentiu Mitiamen of Riak Machar Teny and Paulino Matip Nhial are attacking unarm Dinkas Communities. We will see in the coming years but I just let you guys know that, we Dinkas Bhar al Ghazal all we want to go to Upper Nile Region to make revenge to Neur so that, they know us very well.

          Aduol Liet,

Something is wrong with Kiir, he is turning his back on his people for a fake unity with militias, Riek Machar and Paulino Matip. Onces a militia will always remains a militia. Kiir needs to understand that those militias will turn their back against the SPLM/A very soon. He is busy disarming Dinka community while the aggressors (Nuer & Murle) have not been disarmed yet leaving Dinka community vulnerable to attack.

There is something behind these recent attacks by Nuer militias in Gogriel County. The attack on civilians by Paulino Matip militia has intensified during the last two weeks and yet, no single statement of condemnation from the GOSS. I wonder if Kiir does not have any single relatives in Gogriel county that has been affected by Nuer militia in the past two weeks.

Awet Akot is not educated and even not qualify to be Governor of Great Lake state.

He was a corrupt man, now there will be peace and love of human adolescent in lake state.

He was contrastive, himself and the governor of Jongeli state are extremely corrupt human beings.

      Hi Readers,
There is a breaking news in Mirayafm that Salva Kiir will remained as General of the army, while contesting for the president of GOSS. No chances for nyagat Matip or Nyagat Riek for the eye of president or general of the army as previous predicted by some Nyagats about days ago. Good news???????????original messages from Miraya Fm:
Interim Consitution allows Salva Kiir to remain as SPLA Commander while running for South Sudan Presidency
      Wednesday, 13 January 2010 18:21 Sudan >>>
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has ruled out the possibility of Salva Kiir Mayardit resigning from the army to run as a nominated presidential candidate for the southern Sudan government in the 2010 general elections. Speaking to Miraya FM, Southern Sudan’s Minister of Presidential Affairs, Luka Biong, said that the interim Constitution of the Government of Southern Sudan allows the President to retain the title of Commander-in-Chief of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).

Biong confirmed that presently the SPLA Act does state that no member of the SPLA can participate in political activities but said there will be decisions made within the regulations of southern Sudan. However, the Minister of Presidential Affairs was firm in reiterating that the President of Southern Sudan will not need to relinquish his position as Commander-in-Chief of SPLA.

Agaar community is ever thirsty of leadership!

War hero Awetdit shouldn’t be humiliated like that by ever leadership thirsty community called Agaar.Although i am not from lake state,i am free to condemn this disrespectful act secretly planned and executed by primitive elders of Agaar with thugs of their leaders in Juba against Awetdit who hails from minority Cuebet community.

Agaar community has been behaving like Dr.Riek Machar in disorganizing the lake state affairs simply to discredits Awet Akot’s government.

My personal advice to Gen.Salva Kiir is not to allow humiliation of war heroes who have toil hard to bring the just peace to the people otherwise this scenario can not be far away from dragging him into the same fate as that of Awetdit and that can afterwards set the autonomous region on fire as ugly reaction from supporters is ever at the door whenever politics errors are committed at this critical stage.

The Lake state Electoral Colleges are really stupid.

The governor Daniel Awet Akot his name has to be present.

Whoever wanted to be governor has to contest aganst him.

This nomination was not fair at all, and will create war among Lake State subclans communities, unless the incumbent governor his name has to be in the list.

Second, this is for you stupid and idiot commentators Dinka of Bhar El Ghazel, you will never seen Nuer Land by naked eyes.

You will face Nuer Warriors before you reach upper Nile.

You were the one who started first, and now you are crying like dogs in the Website. For your information if you don’t want to die stop looting Nuer Warriors cattle. Othewise, you all gona die like that.

The 139 number dead, is not so bad.

    Damn you Critiques!!!

I think the topic discussed is irrelevant to deviantly antigonize someone you may not like as per this discussed topics. It about the selection of Lake state candidates rolling for the governnorship. Does Matip and Riak resides in Lake state? Your dummies criticis doesn’t make any sense.

Perhap if the topic should have concerned the selection of Unity state and respective state where the two hated gentlement resided, then you should have guts to say some.

As far as your asses are full of hatred and jeolousy to see some people heading the top post in the government, our so call South Sudan unity will be inevitable. Kiir and his likes can not make South Sudan a better place to be if does not forge the spirit of brother hood from those abandoned brothers and sisters of the "Junuub el Sudan".

Lets be careful in defecating out our nasty trash of hatred in this public domain. We may choose to hate Kiir, Matip, Riak or Amum to the point of cursing them out of our sight. What difference can we make with our abusive and hating comment we gave every now and then? Surely, we only foam the the conviction of rebellion among ourselves other than thinking of join ventures among our southern brethren.

Let live tribalism to uncivilized mind. or else we will always live with feuds and grudgets toward our own brothers and sisters.

South Sudan is neither for Dinka, Nuer, Bari, Shilluk or Toposa, but its for all of us discriminated people of South Sudan. Lets us all live with the spirit of Brotherhood and sisterhood.

Every thing in NBEG state was been controlled by the governor and his name now has appear on board with 100 marks of which he was assumming to be noaminated again but the people of greater Aweil are not ready now to make any mistake again to bring him as governor though he was trying up and down to make every thing to be possible. I can see now you have managed to eliminate out your corrupt governor Daniel Awet Akot only the problem has remain on us we the people of Aweil state but there is no problem there are so many ways of getting ride of some thing. Malong was trying to rule this state until the end of his life but we will not accpted that decision because this government is not belong to one person this is a government for the people so all the people must have to participate at it. So Daniel Awet should not be surprise just tell him to go and spent this remaining little time with his kids. He has become an old man of which he is not able to run the state affairs any more.

Imagine what happened in Lakes state electoral college. The semi illiterate Chairman called man kuc just rigged the nomination in his devil heart. yesterday another crap and Ugly monkey like, called Mabor Kau another guy that was bribed talking rubbish that the selection creteria is based on what you have done/achieved in the movement.if that is the case, how can deserters and late comers to the movement scored highly, this is laughable. The Ugly Mabor mentioned that Paul Mayom Akec and William Ater drew, it was the semi illiterate chairman’s vote that remain to be cast, when he casted his vote, it altered all the 24 members votes by bringing the last person (Deserter or Nyagat by Name Magok Manyol) that got 3 votes out of 25 to be in the reserve list while the one of those who drew takes the third position votes. this is amazing and shameful to State SPLM Secretary Mathing Ker, who is suffering from Ma’ngurek in my dialect or (what shall i do, in direct translation) (that is cronic wound that does not heal no matter what. that is cancer of cours) I would like you guys to take bribes and do the right things than confusing the whole state by the filthy mouth of yours that do not know boundries of where and what to eat from whom. SPLM in Lake State is in a complete failure coming the April General election.
Lakes State is the worse state in South Sudan in term of nomination where people with chicken brain are involved in Electoral College. The guys are bribed like hell, the worse part of it is the chairperson of the 25 people that make up the college, Mr Abraham Meen Kuc, is a beggar who have not attained certificate of any Educational level being a primary or high school. Philip Marol Mading and Mathing Ker are the crooks of all that will cause disaster in the state. I don’t understand why the Electrol College was formed in the first place if Abraham Meen Kuc, Mathiang Ker and Philip Marol Mading altered what 24 people came out with. Meen Kuc, when you are assigned to a national obligation, you need to be careful and do the right thing for the state and the country as a whole. you were not given the task in order to get rich over night of (V8 car)Miith Apuol, the luxurious car that will reached Rumbek today from Juba as a promise by Paul Mayom Akec and Deng Athorbei just to alter the original work of the committee in Palm Tree Hotel. Shame on Meen Kuc and Mathiang Ker
In simple calculation, for example, if people draw 81 to 81, and chairman votes,
Then it will be 82 to 81 which is very clear if bribery is not put into consideration as you did. In that simple Arithmetic, the nominee of 82 will be number then followed by nominee of 81.
Then it should have been like this if Meen Kuc did not take bribery into consideration.
    1. Mayom Akec 82
    2. Ater Maciek 81
    3. And bala bala....
But since Meen and Mathiang Ker are bribed heavily, the money blinded them to the point of heart Attack.
Meen Kuc and his step father Mathiang Ker contradicted themselves when they were trying to defend their defunct evil lies

Without Daniel Ayual Makoi that time, the three platoons (Company) could have been surrounded and killed one by one.
But having high tactics, he first talks of evacuating that territory to Bhar El-Ghazal region and when they reached the old Cattle-camp which has got no people that has inhabitant it, he passes the orders to every soldier in order to take a rest and even sleep from there. When it got dark, he ordered soldiers in order to collect firewood and set up fire all round and escape forthwith from that old cattle-camp. When the enemy reached the location and saw the flames of the fire from a distance, they said to themselves that they have reached their target enemy and surrounded the place while Daniel with his company had already evacuated the area.
Dear brothers and sisters, a person of such tactics is a good leader of the people and I will not go into details of what he had been doing since the struggle up to date. I am really wishing Lakes Sate to be better this turn if we support him to be our leader.

      With Loves!!!!

      Dear Nuer!!
You are still following Dinka even in the website. What a dirty Tribe are you? I have been reading your posted articles talking about Dinka every now and then, but this Dinka you are playing with, is the tribe that give you CPA. Without this tribe, Jalaba could have get its maximum already and put every one to death in the South.

If you think that Nuer are warriors, why did they joined North in 1991? Was it not because the South was about to be burned down by the confederation Government? Dinka Tribes especially Bhar El_Ghazal Region stand her ground and the sons of the women (Nuer) hands over themselves to Jalaba and called it a coup against Dr. John Garang. Is there any need for Contesting for leadership before independence? Should the movement not be lead by one person untill freedom?

Anyway!! if we got CPA, we should not recall back the past events. My freinds Nuer, The war has got end and it has left its victim which you should not scratch always. We all know the cost of the conflict unless you were not born that time. Your separation during sruggle, had delayed the independence and your Dr. Lam Akol and Dr. Riek Machar are crying over the resources of the country creating many parties of which they think it will help out.

      Sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

      I am living here!!!

I am displease to hear that Mr Awet Akot is not chosen for governorship but I am convinced by what is so called "there is time for everything." Dear comrade Awet you are one of the heroes in the struggle for freedom of Southerners, don,t loose
hope God has a plan for you. Let,s wait and see who will bring
safety to Lakes State among the civilians. My especial advice to Electoral College in Lakes State, don,t be tempted to lead our state to nowhere by bring in leaders who have dark vision and group influence. You have rumours of bribery which is evidenced by some facts seen on the ground. There is never an Electoral College comprised of illiterates and you expect positive outcomes. Majority of them are bankrupt so it is their time to scoop something. I wish, Awet to continue till 2011 referendum. My question is, why are five candidates nominated in a single seat and to make it worse, many of them are from one side? Does it reflect good governance of scramble for money? Shame on those who want to burn the land of community for no good reasons. Take care of your nomination in order not to destroy you and us. Mr. Salva Kiir, why don,t you select all the state governors before we have reached the referendum 2011. Can,t you use your power to save the vulnerable people? Money is making our people mad.

    Dear eaters with no vision

SPLM losing their credit from heroes to Zeroes

guys! it is ridiculous and clear that southern Sudan leadership is for the veterans of war and their relatives, to tell you what, if you want southern Sudan to be a nation like other nations, you have to promote democracy, if you all these criminals sit, write nonsense and passed them and call them a law without obeying them even, how can a country govern its self if corruption start from top to the bottom. to come to the point you guys wrote these silly law that a contestants must be a someone who had been a member in SPLM for 15 years, a tactic to block other parties and those who educate in abroad. shame on you

      Anajenubi,

Don’t put too much presure on yourself fighting a fight that has nothing to do with system. The whole Lake state has the right to deny Awet Akot if he is not there fulfilling their expectations, and that is what democracy means. You are allowed to choose one from the two or many: Bad guys and good guys. Awet is out and no way around to bring him back or reverse the process to power, no. He is done being Governer once and for all.
We love Mr. Akot so much for the services he has been providing to our Country. We are proud of him and he is our hero in all ways. However, it is up to Southern government to rehire him or not; and I believe that our government has one open post for him, to enjoy like other heros. So, you stop trying to do too much of his work on your own, let the government brings him something instead. You hear me my friend!

    To Mr. Wudutman

For your information, I am Gel Wang. I am Commentator like you.

Do not play with LT. General ’s name.

I am not supporting the death toll of your people.

I am just trying to warn you that if you take a raid to Nuer Land, your death will be more than 139,because the Nuer Warriors don’t forgive when it come to fight.

If you don’t believe me, ask my cousin Mr. Dinka Boy, he will tell you what happened to him when Lou nuer Warriors attacked his villlage Duk Padiet.

Dinka Boy was one of the survivors who ran naked without clothes on his body all the way to Juba.

    Thanks

I hope that mr. Anajenubi may take a break at insulting his leaders.

Little to add, I think Mr. Meen Kuch didn’t make mistake when he announced the nomination of candidates or reseves in Lake state coz it came from leagle matters as a form of democracy.

At lease people of Lakestate must to chose whoever is capable to create new way of peace and prosperity. not the qualification but wisdom, not quantity but quality .

Please stop being briebed and chose for who would be the best for your future generation.

I am happy to see Chol Tong, Paul Madit Maluach, Mading Akol Anyaar and the rest . b’se I do hear them well. Please top government you need these listed candidates to succeed.

      Thank you all
      Love SPLM.
