November 20, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – A visiting Chinese official hailed the role played by Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir in transforming his country in terms of development.

“As an old friend of the Sudanese president, I got a full sense of the profound changes that have taken place in Sudan under your leadership as soon as I stepped on Sudanese soil” said Zhou Yongkang, a member of the standing committee of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Political and Legal Committee.

“This morning I visited the Khartoum Oil Refinery. Ten years ago it was a mere construction site. Today it is covered with one modern plant after another” he said after a meeting with Bashir.

China buys a third of its oil exports from Sudan and has invested heavily in the country’s infrastructure while also maintaining a status as Sudan’s largest arm supplier.

The rising world power has been criticized by Western countries and human right groups for shielding Khartoum from tougher UN Security Council actions with regard to the Darfur crisis.

But Beijing hit back saying it believes in quiet diplomacy as opposed to sanctions and reiterated its long standing policy of non-interference in other countries affairs.

“We have always unswervingly treated each other with respect, sincerity, and friendliness on the basis of equality and mutual benefit and our two counties’ traditional friendship has consolidated and deepened ceaselessly. As developing countries, China and Sudan are faced with many similar tasks and challenges and share broad common interests” the Chinese official said.

The Sudanese president on his end hailed the strong ties between his country and China saying the latter has made “important contributions to the development of Africa”.

Bashir also thanked China for its consistent support for Sudan’s effort to preserve unity and stability and said that Sudan would fully put into effect the peace agreement with the various ethnic groups and further advance the process of ethnic reconciliation.

On the same day Yongkang and Bashir attended the ceremony to mark the launching of direct flights between China and Sudan by the Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines and the unveiling of the Confucius Institute at Khartoum University. Bashir also hosted a banquet at the Presidential Palace to warmly welcome Zhou Yongkang and his entourage.

    Wow

Even Bashier is now better than tribalist Salva Kiir in the South of the country.

Keep up Bashier, you are our president since Kiir failed us in the South.

But your problem is Sharia Islamia. Please get rid of that and all country will get behind you rather than Dinkanic Kiir.

    God bless

    Dear Southerners read this quote.

"China buys a third of its oil exports from Sudan and has invested heavily in the country’s infrastructure while also maintaining a status as Sudan’s largest arm supplier".

Are we happy with the misuse of our resources by the Northern Govt?. We must get our self-independent and we will see where will they get their oil. We should be unhappy with something like the quote above instead of talking about the SPLM which have no power of the resources in Sudan as awhole.

We must take other 50% from the Bashier Govt as was said by Dr Garang de Mabior. Dr Garang said i bring 50% from the Arab when they were using 100%,but if you (Southerners) want 100% then it is your choice in 2011. Thanks

As long as the pipe-line passes through the NORTH you have to pay us our share. You might think that you can build through Kenya, that is a possibility.Again you have to pay to Kenya, and economically it is going to be very expensive as the south yo go the higher is the elvation of the land, this why the nile is flowing northward. And I am sure that you won’t get better treatment, and your politicians know that!Afterall not all the oil is coming from the South.

Potentially there is much more oil in the North than in the south. If there is a huge potential in the South America could have separated the South ages ago!Ironicalle now they are against the secession of the South, and working very hard to settle the Darfur problem! They can no longer wait for any moron to stand on their way towards their interest in North Sudan! They simply want to keep you with us so that they could influence us through you!

Excellent news, I’ve yet to see one government official congratulate cowboy Kiir for any achievement in the South, even the criminal SPLM knows they’ve achieved nothing.

Big Famous Logic, J.James and Osha, the graph of ever stupid human being existing in Sudan is long.

If you can not identify the real causes of war btn the North and the South and try TO dwell much on how corrupt SPLM is, then it proves you as bullshit.

I am against separation but hatred FROM ARABS-KHATOUM always force me to resort to it and we shall sometime unite like Germany. SOUTH HAD EVER BEEN TREATED BY KHATOUM AS A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND NOW IS THE TIME TO SEE INTO IT THAT WE THE SOUTHERNERS CAN DETERMINE WHO TO MANAGE US BETTER AS YOU FOOLISHLY THINK AFTER THE COMPLETION OF MANDATE BY SPLM.

No one is born with leadership talent but what matters is how one is oriented.

        Dear all,

Chinese are heavily invested in Sudan in all sectors of Sudanese Developments. Furthermore, Chines do not have the Human Rights criteria to support any government. They can support any bloody dictator as far as their interest of expanding their new Colonialism is intact. They themselves do not have any humanitarianism standard as far as they keep exercising their atrocious colonial policy over Tibetans. Birds of the same feather flock together. El Bashir with his bloody hand over the Darfurian Sudanese, vs Chinese inhuman record with the Tibetans people. As for Chinese, the modern colonization of Sudan, and the whole of Africa must be pursued at any cost proving the principle of survival of the fittest. By the way, make no mistake, Africa will survive as all past Colonial powers are endured till their final departure.

        May god protect Africa!!!!

        Asalaam Aleikum,

        Mohammad.
