November 9, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – The Turkish presidency has quietly worked over the weekend to convince the Sudanese government not send president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir to attend the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul, a Turkish columnist wrote today.

Bashir, who is a target of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC), was due to arrive on Sunday afternoon despite heavy criticism from the EU and human rights groups to Turkey for hosting him in his status as an indicted figure.

Ankara defended its stance saying it did not send out the invitation to Bashir but they were simply hosting the conference and revealing that it has no intention of inviting him in the future for bilateral talks.

On Sunday the Sudanese state media carried a report saying that the Sudanese president “delayed” his visit to Turkey in light of the ongoing dispute with SPLM over crucial parts of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

The report said that Bashir phoned his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul to thank him for the invitation and apologizing for not being able to make it to the summit because of internal matters he has to attend.

But Yusuf Kanli, chief columnist with the English language Istanbul based Hurriyet daily news quoted senior Turkish officials as saying that the presidency “directly contacted and persuaded Bashir to cancel his plans to attend.

The officials said that Gul “was relieved” by al-Bashir’s agreeing to stay away and “implied that the protest note from the European Union and the remarks of displeasure expressed by Washington regarding the planned visit were strong enough to force Ankara to engage in some secret diplomacy to convince al-Bashir to call off the visit” according to Kanli.

Mustafa Ozjan, an independent Turkish analyst also told the Trend News Agency in Azerbaijan that Bashir “postponed his visit to Turkey at the request of Ankara”.

In Khartoum, Sudanese officials made conflicting statements on the reasons behind scrapping the plans to be at the summit.

The Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti said in statements at Khartoum airport today carried by Xinhua news agency that “after the pressures put on Turkey by the European Union rejecting participation of President al-Bashir in the summit, the political leadership decided to cancel the president’s participation to avoid further pressures on Turkey”.

However, the Sudanese presidential adviser Mustafa Osman Ismail later denied that EU pressure had any role to play in the no-show of Bashir at the summit.

“The position of Turkey being keen on Bashir’s participation was marked by swiftness in front of the pressures” Ismail was cited by SUNA.

“The Turkish stance must be lauded and at the same time valuing the position of Sudan to those who think that postponing the visit was in consideration of the Turkish situation and the pressure it faced” he added.

Ismail reiterated the official reason for the cancellation to the ongoing political stalemate between the partners in the government of national unity.

But Al-Tayib Zein Al-Abdeen, a prominent Islamist columnist, told the Qatar based Al-Jazeera TV that the ICC warrant is the “more likely” reason why Bashir did not go to Turkey.

On Sunday, the BBC Arabic service quoting official Sudanese sources in Istanbul said that Bashir listened to his Vice president Ali Osman Taha’s advice telling him that Israeli and Greek fighter jets may intercept his plane en route to Turkey.

The report said that Sudanese presidential jet landed in Istanbul without Bashir on board.

Sudanese newspapers today highlighted the remarks made by Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he defended Bashir saying that a Muslim is incapable of committing genocide.

“In any event a Muslim could not commit genocide, he is not capable of it,” Erdogan said.

“If there was such a thing [genocide] we could talk about it face to face with President Bashir” he added.

The Turkish Premier said he visited Darfur and saw no signs of genocide.

Bashir returned today from Egypt where he took part in the fourth Forum of China-Africa Cooperation.

It’s a real shame when Westerners who have killed more people than anyone and never held to account can determine who and who isn’t guilty. It’s also a real shame that our president should feel that he is a prisoner in his own country over crimes he did not commit.

What goes around comes around and those who suffer the most on earth will be the first to enter heaven. The SPLA who has butchered itself into power will be first to see HELL.

      Oshay.

Your uncle Omar al Bashir will soon following his friend Saddam Hussein of Iraq. The world are coming too close to accept the ICC Judges made indictment to Omar al Bashir and you will go hell with your uncle killer Omar al Bashir.

I cann’t wait to make my party after Omar al Bashir got arrest or got kill either way, we Sudanese people will be better off in the absent of this military dictatorship. The SPLM Party apparently are welcoming to lead Sudan nation in to New Sudan government mean new constitutional a part from Sharia law and jihdist policies are not needed.

The Khartoum people need to think clearly about this question, do you think how long Omar al Bashir will be hidden in small Northern Sudan.? Northern Sudan is too small for Oamr al Bashir to hide himself there, don’t you know that.? Therefore, there is a good advice for Omar al Bashir to take it now and this advice is to surrender himself to ICC Judges, because it is not late for him if he want to do so.

For me and million others Sudanese people are now preparing for big event party ever if Hassan Omar al Bashir is real death or face arrest before the coming 2010, April in general election. We hope that, God will take our prayership that, we are asking him to let Omar al Bashir get fire to hell for what he did against Sudanese citizens and we thinks God will listen or accepted to our prayers.

Turkey must take care of itself not catering to dirty, filthy products of incest called arabs anymore. Turkey is a European country and must remains so.

This criminal and a shame to the Sudanese nation called Al beshir must be arrested and is getting arrest whether he like it or not. Oshay, erroneously alleged that Westerners have committed genocide yes they had including slavery. Arabs used to sell people to Westerners and is aknown fact. Arabs are the evil of the World not Europeans such as Turkey.

Arab false prophet Mohamed may war and violent be upon his name is condemned to death with Saddam and Beshir.

      Dear Osay,

The Author of this statement is an author of the killing in Darfur: "I do not want Prisoners of War and I do not want Wounded."

Also, Al-Bashir is not guilty nor innocent until proven guilty or otherwise.

      Oshay,

"what goes around comes around" that’s very true, it’s now the turn of your uncle and husband of your mother at same time to feel what he did to people of Sudan all these time. the husband of your mother (Omer) is really a true prisoner in his country of birth because he is stupid really. he could have treat people of Sudan like his own brothers and sisters during his leadership, but he turned against them as his enemies. now the husband of your mother is a dead man and you are going to hell with him before SPLA.

Well Well, I have just joined this forum and with great luck I happen to read the intersting article about Turkey in relation to Sudan’s fugitive / Criminal President El Bashir, who have slaughtered innocent Muslim civilians; women, children, elderly and the young for political and economical gains. This Criminal does not deserve to live; I think the Quoran would not condoned it.

Mr Gul (President of Turkey) It is quite sad that after all the endeavours and efforts you had exerted to join the EU has just been flashed down the drainage by your own words. You have shown the EU that your country is not worth joning the EU.

It all started when challenged IAEA proposal for the Nuclear deal by siding with Teran. I still cannot understand what you want to impress the world with. perhaps I should understand it this way. Because Bashir and Mahmoud Ahmedijadin is a Muslim you feel obliged to make such uncalculated move for depending him and inviting Bashir for the Muslim summit. Now it has costed you EU membership.

By virtue of the Geographical location of Turkey, you should join the the Middle wild East (Arab world).

For EU, Turkey is a terrist country and it does not deserve to be part of EU.

For my brother Oshay, seek for advice before you post any article on the net, because you are a lost Sudan Arab. The Muslim world feel that the world has been ruled by Christians, as such, they are trying to do anything possible to get the scene of the world, by Terrorism, pretex of Nationalization especially taking citizenship of the western world, getting education etc. My advice is that the world should weak up! Imagine what happened in the US Texas Military Base and in Britain. Wake World! Wake up Naive leaders of Africa (Africa Union). Here is another case: The reaction of the Egyptians over the AU panel chaired by Thabo Mbeki, reason that for yourselves guys.

      Cheers for Turkey.

The Turks are Hittite in origin, which belongs to the sons of Ham, the Hamitic race, the sons of Canaan.
Some peoples say that Hittite are black race in white land.
Hittite also related to the peoples of Turkic origin with Turkistan in China, where there are Muslim populations in North Western China.
The Turks defended all the way down to Khartoum, todays North Sudan from British Empire when Europeans were hightened into African colonializm.
Technically, the Ethiopians says they got colonized by Italy for 5 years, but more of Eritrean/Ethiopians went mixed with Romans/Italians, so more like Barak Obama today.
1/4th of Ethiopians has Italian grandparents by birth.
By the way, North Sudanese were more pure, because British never could intermarried to North Sudanese, result of Egyptian soldiers monitored British soldiers while they were in North Sudan, and Turks ruled out North Sudan, instead of British rule in North Sudan, so late Ottoman Empire protected, the Hittite Peoples protected North Sudan from sons of Japheths which is Caucasian race to mixing into Northern Sudanese.

By the way, most all black Americans has one of their grandparents were caucasian race, even they looks more African, but they got white race in them.

But thank TURK, which is protected North Sudanese women to be rape by these white monstars, like Chad are now today.

Your uncles whom call themselves Arab have try for many years to engulf the black african native by planning atrocity among ourselves but nevertheless you have not succeeded. I am here to let you know that, your master time is runing out and i swear you will be shock after 2011. There will be a moment of silence from his servant after the fall of great dictator who ruler sudan for 30 years by putting killing of innocence lives as his motif. Most people who claim themselves arabs now will seek to become southerners and the few arab that will choose to remain arabs after southern sudan become independence will choose to joint south sudan because without us and our rich fertiles south sudan. you will be nothing but bunch of confuse fools left in the desert to dry up with your camels. Mark my words, your step dad bashir got nothing but he’s a dead man walking. Moreover how many genocidal activities the Ottaman Turkish Empire committed around the world when their janjweeds roamed parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia? Who does not know the genocide that took place in Arminia? Who did it? what about those terrorists who blow up innocent people everyday in Afghanstan, Pakistan, Somalia, Iraq, Israel, etc. ? I hope they are muslims from another planet so that they can be barred from coming to earth.
