SendOctober 11, 2009 (ABYEI) — The Governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Police General Mark Nyipuoc, today denounced allegations that he has joined the SPLM-DC led by Dr. Lam Akol saying "it is detrimental allegation worth court case if individuals behind it are found."
This comes after claims that he had in recent past been holding secret meetings with SPLM-DC leader, Dr. Lam Akol in Khartoum. The governor reportedly had met with Lam Akol twice before splinting from the SPLM to discuss how to form the new party.
However Governor Nyipuoc dismissed vigorously these claims. "These allegations were framed by none other than political adversaries just to provoke my feelings and supports I have for my Party, the SPLM," he said.
"If I did not leave SPLM during hard days, why do they think I will leave it now when my active membership is needed in the party leadership," he wondered in a statement he made to Sudan Tribune form Wau.
Nyipuoc disclosed that some people wrote a letter to the President of the government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit alleging he had secretly defected and that he has become sitting Governor for SPLM-DC. He also said he know all those who are involved in this action,and have a list of their names..
The governor in a speech delivered at Wau state TV denounced these allegations published in the local press.
"I personally made it clear to the public that I have not joined SPLM-DC and I have no intention to join any other political party apart from SPLM," he said adding that he does not like changing parties like clothes asserting his loyalty to the southern Sudan ruling party..
He also reaffirmed that he is in good terms with all the SPLM leadership including the Chairman Slava Kiir Maydrit. . "I have never had any personal grudges with anyone at the helm either," he adds. Nyipuoc, who warned the media from manipulation, described his relation with Akol as ordinary relationship between brothers without political ties.
"I have never sat with him (Lam Akol) to discuss anything to do with politics secretly even when he was still active member of the SPLM," he said.
The SPLM-DC leadership during its first days declared several times it had secret membership among the leading members of the government of southern Sudan and the states governments.
