July 16, 2009 (JUBA) – The Deputy Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) said the party is committed to respecting and implementing the expected ruling on Abyei’s boundary by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands.

Southern Sudan Vice President, Riek Machar, who also chaired the SPLM delegation in The Hague during the Court’s deliberations in April, told journalists at Juba International Airport on Thursday, while on his way to Geneva via Khartoum that he hoped the Court will find that the Abyei Boundary Commission (ABC) experts have not exceeded their mandate.

"Hopefully they (Judges) will find that the ABC experts have not exceeded their mandate. If that is so, the ABC report will have to be implemented," he said.

If it is found that the experts exceeded their mandate, the Court will decide where the boundaries should be demarcated based on the arguments presented by the two parties during their respective deliberations in The Hague.

ABC experts’ report, which determined the Abyei boundaries as required by the CPA, was rejected since July 2005 by the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), saying the experts had exceeded their mandate in the process.

Machar called on the people of Southern Sudan and Abyei to wait calmly. "We all wait for arbitration decision. This is international. We [SPLM] have committed ourselves that we will respect it, and we also tell the people of Southern Sudan, particularly the people of Abyei to wait calmly for the decision, and we keep to our word," he advised.

Machar said he would travel to The Hague from Geneva on July 21 to attend the declaration of the verdict on the Abyei boundary by the Permanent Court of Arbitration which will take place on July 22, 2009.

Anyway, it would be better that the South keeps all the oil so the SPLM would stop its silly excuses and claims of southern marginalization. If they get all the oil they will squander the money for themselves and sell out the south. That is a cool diplomacy. Soft power is good for such impplications in Abye. Hard power always should be the last option in the mind of SPLAM. Bravo, it is a good road for faithful dispute settling and it is the real politics of today. Thanks for such massive improvement in SPLAM PARTY.

I think you’re very sick, man. The land of Abyei belongs to the people of Abyei and so there was no need in the first place to go to court. People went to international court of arbitration because of the stupidity of the regime that has used cheating and stealing of land and resources of the people of South Sudan as a means to enrich themselves. If you have not so far filled your dirty stomachs with what you already stolen, forget about Abyei’s resources, they are going back to their rightful owners.

You were right when you burn down our thatched hut and chased us for years to be in the neighbouring countries as a refuge. We have just forget that right. You took us to international court of arbitration for the land you cannot tell what is mean by the word it’s called. If someone who called himself/herself Arab can tell what is the meaning of the word Abyei in Arabic? We will role our eyes when you can come up with a such meaning. People , we had it all for years and it is beyond psycohologist to treat us so we can feel the brotherhood again. Don’t be so naive. If the court sided with GOSS it’s because the NCP have creditability or whatsoever over Abyei. The word Abyei itself is a Dinka word. NCP are just making unfounded claim even though they know the real the truth.

Some of the NCP latest claims were never brought up during the peace negation in Kenya. This shows they were unfamiliar with the area and as the time went on, they came back and demanded the change in ABC mandate. Let the truth be told!!!

Where are Dr Riek Machar advisors? Please don’t let him go to Hague, his names are on ICC list due to what he did in Bor in 1991. He is allowed by Southern Sudan Government to go to Switzerland to learn some thing about human security and peace. His ICC arrest warrant will be issued and he will be arrested on the same day he lended in Netherland soil. I’m really worry he will be arrested by Luis Moreno-Ocampo.

If that will be the case, you will simply be one of them uder Luis Moreno-Ocampo, and what I know is Dr. Riek Arrest warrant will on be issued on his fighting to the right of Southernese freedom and you are one of them to enjoy that. If You were really on the book of the movement get in there and see some more years apart from 1991 then see what had happent. your complain need you to be taken to school because if not so, look at the more changes that are happenting now in Southern Sudan specially in Juba the capital, and all this were through his advises.

  I’m not the one who put Dr Machar names on ICC list. His names were put on ICC list by UNICEF Organisation, Red Cross and New Sudan Council of Churches (NSCC) in 1998 in connection with crimes allegedly committed in Bor in 1991. The case was Suspended by Salva Kiir Mayardit due to Wunlit Dinka-Nuer Peace conference in 1999. The reason why the case was suspended not to go to ICC directly was very simple, because Kiir believed that Dinka and Nuer communities who agreed to establish the Wunlit Covenant will be responsible to implement the resolutions.
  
  Of cause I’m one of the people who will be enjoying Dr Riek Machar arrest warrant because justice is justice. I have no personal problem with Dr Machar at all.
  
  To defend myself from your accusation and I quote you here saying "If that will be the case, you will simply be one of them uder Luis Moreno-Ocampo". My simple answer to your accusation to me is this: I will never and never be one of the ICC wanted men in Sudan because I never committed crimes since I joined SPLM/A in 1989. I fought against Arabs domination in my lovely country Sudan not against my own people.
  
  To tell you the facts the whole Southern Sudan is against Dr Riek Machar Teny because he doesn’t like peace in the South. We Southerners already discovered Dr Riek Gai and Dr Riek Machar’s Policies. I, M.C.C KUL-CHI-GONGIC personally have witnessed their war ideologies of which they agreed to abolish all Dinka tribe. Four weeks ago I went to Kosti to witness the plan of Dr Riek Machar and Dr Riek Gai weapons smugling from Khartoum to Kosti and then to Bintu, Unity and Malakal. They armed more than 200,000 militias to fight against Dinkas from LUAC AGUER ADEEL to APUK GIIR THIIK.

Certain Southern Sudanese man (choir) sings interestingly that our case in Sudan is BEING SOLVED IN HEAVEN and ON THE EARTH BY GOD and the RIGHT MASTERS. I like that song so much and much much because of its genuine meaningful description.

On the other contrary, Judges should not rely on who politicize them but they shall listen to who is right,that’s when you will never perish but you may achieve the crown of life as Jesus said.

Yes, Abyei is already Southern Sudanese state indicated by the followings; 1- LANGUAGE; The best Language for Abyei people is Dinka.

2-WORSHIP; Christianity is the major beliefs as a major doctrine though few people got adopted to Muslim worshiping 3-Culture, Abyei culture is totally closed to that of Dinka or I mean to say they take each other activities. 4-The skin; Abyei’s people have clear smooth black skins which is indifferent from Dinka and the word DINKA NGOK.Even Abyei is a dinka word that means VINEYARD non of Arabs knows. There’s more to mention but few.In 2007, I flew from my home town Rumbek heading to Juba but the plane firstly arrived to Abyei to take some officers to Juba,I got amazed and felt pity on how Abyei’s people were mistreated by Arabs ! But as I am a student,I had non support to declare my sympathy. Please,rulers have a justice on the demarcation of Sudanese boundary and no need for Hague based court otherwise. Thanks.

as a Southerner, we are calm and will remain calm till when the triemphet is blown on the 22/07/09 that where we’ll show our colours incase NCP does not want to repect the court declaration if it is on our side and ofcourse it going to be on our side.
