Egypt’s Mubarak warns against ICC warrant for Sudanese president

February 9, 2009 (PARIS) — The Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak warned today from the fallout that could result if the International Criminal Court (ICC) judges issue an arrest warrant for Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

The spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency Suleiman Awad told reporters that Mubarak discussed the Darfur crisis during his talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Mubarak arrived in Paris as his first stop during his 4-day tour in Europe.

Last July the ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo requested that the judges issue an arrest warrant for Bashir on three counts of genocide, five of crimes against humanity and two of murder.

Ocampo accused Al-Bashir of masterminding a campaign to get rid of the African tribes in Darfur; Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa.

ICC judges are expected to issue an arrest warrant for Bashir as early as this week.

“The Egyptian president warned from the consequences of current situation and the possibilities of issuing an arrest warrant for Sudanese president Omer Al-Bashir” Awad said.

“This will have bad impact on the situation in Sudan” he added.

Egypt has in the past criticized the ICC move against Bashir saying that it is a threat to instability in its southern neighbor.

Last week Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency (MENA) quoted foreign ministry spokesperson Hussam Zaki as saying that foreign minister Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and intelligence Chief Omer Suleiman will arrive in Sudan in the coming days.

It is widely expected that they will discuss the widely awaited decision by the ICC as well as Darfur peace talks that are scheduled to start this week in Doha between Khartoum and Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).

A JEM delegation is currently in Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials before heading to Qatar.

The Doha round which was supposed to start today has been delayed as a result of JEM needing more time for meetings with Egyptian officials.

Some observers have pointed out that Egypt is uncomfortable with the Qatari role as they consider Sudan their own backyard.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit had made statements in the past stressing that the new Darfur initiative is an Arab one and not owned by one single country.

This person calling himself ’Nuer’ should be removed by the media authorities in using this web as he is creating and inciting conflicts between Nuer-Dinka. In my views, no Nuer would ever do that by writing nonesenses, abuses... and he is abloody idiot, as well a son of A bitch. You should be a shame of yourself bustard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is always discouraging and humiliating for this absent minded person name himself Nuer. This person is not even from Nuer communities. He was just a wrong element as chemist described when they deal with the equation.

I am sick of this guy who call himself Nuer. He doesn’t know anything neither understand the topic of discussion.

He always bitting the bush rather than point out the truths. Nuer and Dinkas conflict has nothing to do with president Mubarak. Arab doesn’t know who are Dinkas or Nuer. We are all Junubi according to them.

There are some people who do not understand the impacts caused by arab. Arab is Arab and that’s why Mubarak is backing up Bashir for no reason. When people are trying to unite still there are some people who turned away from unity. A good example is this motherfucher who named himself "Nuer". My friend, minus you there still Nuer community. Please you have to change that name if you think you belong to that beautifull community.

Bashir and Egyptian’s president will not contribute any thing to "Juluubi" My message to all southerners is this, let unite and do one thing together such that we sucess against our enemies.

This guy call himself Nuer is not from Nuer to be honest. He is an Arab who want to cause a problem between Dinka, Nuer and all the southerns. He only talk shit about Dinka because President Kiir is from Dinka and next time he will talk about whoever will take the presidential position. Let me tell you the truth if Mr. vice President replace Mr. President, then this man calling himself Nuer will call himself Dinka or Equatoria just to create the problem. Let’s be patient about this disgusting man and forget his comments. How would he support Arab decision if he was from Nuer. Does he thinks that south sudan belong to one tribe or for all? He is a real motherfucka for life. I wish I knew you physically and I’m very sorry to argue with so body that doesn’t belong to the south.

Dear Nuer! Please stick to the " subject matter " and stop confusing southerners. You might have your " personal views " againt the Dinka " ( as everyone, is entitled to their own opinion ) but this is not what the " subject matter " at hand, is about. I guess, my friend, that hatered has rendered you blind, of the reality that there are other " issues and subjects " on this webpage, that has nothing to do with Dinka/Nuer ( neck-grabbing and wrangling ) problems. The other thing i noticed, is that you have no respect ( even for the dead, God rest their souls in peace ) at all. How dare you talk ill of someone ( late Dr. J. Garang ) who fought for " you and me " to be free? I hope that you regain your " wisdom " and focus on the " subject matter " next time. CHEERS!!!!!!!

I don’t understand why Egyptian President refers to the instability in the South whereas Omer Al Bashir’s indictment is not because of crimes he committed in the South. Why is the South Sudan and not Darfur’s instability where Al Bashir committed gonocide? We Southerners are forgiven people; Bashir should have been indicted for crimes he committed agaist our people. If he or the entire northerners including you egyptians think that you can enslave Southerners again as you did in the past? We are prepared for final to give other heroes as we can in order to totally liberate ourselves from your pernicious domestic colonialism. Let Bashir not display Sadaam Hussien’s cenrario otherwise he will regret more than Saadam because we are not one race nor we have one religion like Iraqis. Justice cannot be prevented to take it couse because Bashir arrest will destabilized Southern Sudan. Let it happen and we will see how Bashir will destabilize our outonomous region.

Mubarak has adressed the right issue because the situation in Darfur at the moment is so bad and it will still continue like that. so the jugdes of International Criminal Court should not issue an arest warrant for Criminal Marshal Omar Apeth (Magic)Basher by this time of crisis unless there must be peace in Darfur and enough peace keeping force from UN and African Union that will be the only rescue of innocent people in Darfur.

The Egyptian president has a right as a prominent global citizen and leader, he therefore oughts to voice his concerns about the issues such as the one in Sudan. But, I must disagree and plainly reject the notion of unforeseenable outcome that would be terrible should the arrest warrant be be issued against Sudanese president today. The people of Sudan have come a long way in search for peace and stability, so even if Al Bashir will attempt to use violence after legal arrest warrant being issued against by the ICC, the people must be ready to face the violence in order to bring lasting peace to the nation. Just a reminder to all nationals, those who speaks in the names of our tribes should and must not be honored by debating with them, their ideas are ills and ones that does not deserve our intelectual discussions and attentions. They should always be ignored and left alone, because their wishful thinkings can never and will never take them anywhere but shall always keep them in the same level like water without current

          Good luck folks

Shut up Mr Mubarak. Otherwise it will appear as if you are chasing the wind. The time has come and it is already at hand. Arrest of Bashir the son of a thief will never and ever cause any havok in South or any part of Sudan. If it happens then it will be an end to the Arabs regime. We shall finish them up and settle in our mother land that God has given us since creation. The terrorist sponorers should not interfear with Sudan’s problem because Sudan does not belong to the Arabs world at all.
