The peacekeeper was beaten by Sudanese military personal when he was taking pictures in the market where had occurred a road accident involving a UN staff , military vehicle and a taxi on the afternoon of 21 July 2008, the UNAMID said in a statement.

Noureddine Mezni, the spokesperson of the hybrid mission said the Sudanese troops forced the peacekeeper forced into a military vehicle before being taken to a Military base.

He further said that the UNAMID staff in the area tried to intervene to deliver the peacekeeper but in vain.

"UNAMID condemns in the strongest terms such attacks on its staff members, who are here to help bring peace to the people of Darfur." Mezni said.

The UN security officer is presently undergoing treatment for injuries at a UNAMID hospital in El Fasher.

Seven months since the start of the mission, attacks against the hybrid mission are more and more conducted on regular basis.

The latest attack was the killing of a peacekeeper in West Darfur on July 16, the day where the UN Security Council condemned the deaths of seven peacekeepers in an ambush in North Darfur on July 8.

Yesterday the head of the hybrid mission Rudolf Dada said they are determined to accomplish their operation in Darfur despite the recent attacks against the peacekeepers.

this is how always Arab world behave b/se where they see there is problem which is not in action, they icrease it as well as they were also crying, showing their weakness to the world for the sake of amnesty. critically when you contrasted, and compare really their secret is the same, when one kills that is all over the Arab world. their cooperation is prominent, no cooperatives Nation like Arabs associated with their Unrealistic Religion Islamic.whatever matter that provoked the yesterday attack is the accusation of Omer al-Bishir by Icc where by they feel sympathetic for if Icc will take an immediate action against Beshir, than their Terror secrets will be leaked out by the rule of laws in the court.so for the Arabs they are not easy.for UN and the international community to safe life in Sudan as general detect the Arab scruitiny and affinity to Sudanese Disaters, mainly Darfur will suffer in your present with a lot of false Mediation and aggreements.to me personally i feel unhappy specifically to UN by pretending themselves as they were having a organised forces that can protected the life of Darfurians while they are not.when will they bring stable peace in Darfur?.

This is why it’s good for this peacekeeping to be done the Bush way. More than a year now since the time this force was installed but no improvement. Why should you people keep on crying when you have guns and muscles to use? Is this why AU was crying against the indictment of Omar? Does this mean they wanted to have their soldiers keeping peace while earning money? Let you people get your fair share of the problem of which you are contributing to. This is why it’s good for Omar to be indicted. Let the AU help you now that Omar is targeting peacekeeping force instead of fighting darfurians. He knows where his bread is well battered. My friends, you will be forced to fight Omar forces one day. Peace comes through shooting and talking at the same time. The repercussion will be worse on darfurians unless they fight for their own lives. You people really don’t know the formula of attaining peace. You will get that peace in pieces. Omar had never failed to revenge if AU doesn’t know it. How can you be killing African forces when you very well know that you are part of the continent? Omar call African leaders his counterparts and is now killing their soldiers. How do those leaders feel? They will wake up when the force would have incur a lot of irreversible problems. Let the sleeping dogs sleep.
