Salva Kiir Mayadrit in a speech broadcasted by the national media — TV and radios — from Juba said that this attack does not help to resolve the Darfur crisis. "Regretfully it deepens the wounds and does not help in resolving the issues."

He further said the "Darfur issue is a political issue which should be resolved through dialogue" until a peace agreement that satisfies all the parties is achieved.

The First vice President, who is the acting Sudanese president due to the absence of President al-Bashir in Saudi Arabia, announced the postponement of the Second Convention of the Sudan people’s Liberation Movement scheduled to begin tomorrow in Juba.

He further said that the SPLM decided this temporary adjournment until the situation in the country returns to normal.

Salva Kiir indicated that he is in constant contact with the President al-Bashir and they agreed on measures and precautions to deal with the situation.

He, as chairman of the SPLM also pledged that his party will exert more efforts to reach a lasting solution to Darfur crisis.

He renewed the commitment of the SPLM and the Government of southern Sudan to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the protection of constitutional order.

"We should derive lessons from what happened and implement the CPA and to use it as model to solve Darfur crisis." Salva Kiir said. He also stressed that the SPLM would continue to follow Darfur issue at the level of the presidency and the competent organs

At the end of his speech, he extended his condolences to those who lost a friend and hoped for the injured quick recovery.

  • Dear V.President,

It is honest and transparent to condemn the rebel attack on Khartoum. However, it is good for Arab in Khartoum to hear gunshot in order for every citizen in Sudan to unite and pray for peace afterward. I do not ask for their massacre but what had happened in Darfur was not heard in Khartoum but it is clear now.

Darfur rebel have made historical move and ever because none of the rebels in Sudan which had fought a full scale war never reach Khartoum. This is a good signal to Omar, though he is away, I am sure he will never think of immediate return to Sudan. It is wise for him to begin seek for assylum before things get worsen.

Long live Darfur! Long live Justice and Equality Movement (JEM)! I am always crying for justice!

    • Hi all. i am probably not ashamed but alarmed and sympathetic about the horror of the day in the capital.

despite the fact that, JEM must have faced rough, their deed is a thing that deserve some praise, it is going to be passed down in the history of the land! it is nothing but a suicide pact out of despair!

on the other hand, i cannot blamed Mr. Vice president for his condemnation of the attack because that was the only appropriate measure as the head of the country at that hour, unless otherwise you wanna tell him to make a coup, then he might have spat them at the back for their splendid action and then claim his thrown!

my little question is to the more than 70% africans people of the sudan. when and how are we going to wake up and open our eyes to the reality, to see insults and mistreatments of arabs on our own people? can we allow them to finish us one by one like the three foolish red, white and black bulls?

when they fired at south, Darfuris watched, they even gave them a hand and now we are doing just the same... probably not giving Arabs a hand but we are atleast watching, when they finished the african of darfur they will turn against us or the east or the Nuba mountain. we are screwed up! they will finish us unless we do something,we need to get rid of these illegal aliens

haha.....if not that way then..lets wait and see how the things will turn black during the reffdm?

      cheers

  • That is rubbish. Mr. Kiir must know that there is no viable Sudan in the present of NIF. Dismantling NIF is the only way that will ensure the safe Sudan for all. I would love to see the SPLA helping the Darfur rebels in finishing off this evil NIF. Kiir like or not the SPLA will eventually go to war against the NIF.

  • That is not an attack people,i beleive that those JEM were just there to refesh Beshir from ignoring them and to inform him about his aim of genocide against Durfurian,my question is how many monkeys (arabs) were left wounded or death during their emerged into the city,it’s not an attack i agree to Mr Kiir and also mr Kiir i would like to make it specfic that if your playing with Mr beshir soon you will experience some stranger and unpredictable mystery in your life or career.i recommand that JEM and SPLA should work in common sense to make their mission comes truth and we will see whether monkeys will have a piece of room to hide their chemicals.keep the Spirit JEM never give up.

  • Do your PR Mr Silva. We understand the situation is tensed and polarized. Khartoum and the north should experience what it is like to feel unsafe, hear gunshot and run for your life. This is a strong message to Bashir and his bloody aides to reconsider their unjust policies towards people of Darfur. The Nigerian descendants, Al Bashir and Taha and their Eriterian Miniser of Interior should understand that plans are underway to build a new Sudan whose power and wealth will be equaly shared. Once it becomes reality, the new Sudan will definitely eliminate such alients. We need more of this. Long life JEM, long life SLM/A and long life SPLM. Towards the new Sudan that together we can build.

We (the true SPLAers) may not offer a lot at this curtail time, as we have no courageous leader( as we lost our great leader Dr. John) who can take a decisive action and move the mass to help you, but I must assure you that we the people of south Sudan will soon get rid of those cowed leaders and we will be fighting in the front lines with your brave sons of Darfur region and Nuba people!! when we have the right leader in the South.

    Mr. Kiir,

your condemnation of the brave sons of true Darfur that took the fight to the evil heart, is baseless and it doesn’t the true feelings of South Sudanese but only yours and your corrupt GoSS, your contamination of the events in devil capital of the terrorist, shows how incompetent you are the successor of our late leader Dr. John Garang!! • The decision that taken by president Kiir to condemn and postphone SPLA ’s convetion was a wise decision according to my personal judgement. The game the SPLA and NCP playing is a foxy game; it’s applied only when people are playing seek and hide. In fact, I believe that Mr. Kiir doen’t really mean by his heart to condemn that attack by JEM, what he did was a poltical propaganda to ease the situation as a vice president of whole Sudan. Keep good work Kiir!
