Sudanese police seize important quantity of drug in Khartoum

April 20, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese anti drug police have made a major seizure of drug in the Sudanese capital with modern small weapons and communication means.

The anti-drug unit seized on Saturday 70 sacks, of Hashish (Cannabis resin) with an estimated street value of millons of Sudanese pounds. The authorities also said the involved gang has modern weapons including RPS launchers, Kalashnikovs rifles and satellite phones.

The Sudanese TV reported that the members of the gang were arrested in al-Fitihab, Odurman without firing a single shot.

A large quantity of seized goods was being prepared to be put on the market in Khartoum State and neighbouring countries, the Sudanese police said.
