Seven killed in clan clashes in South Sudan’s Rumbek

August 17, 2007 (RUMBEK) — Seven (7) people were killed and 12 wounded in clan clashes in Lakes State last week. The two sub clans who were under heavy action fighting each another were Panyuon clan and Bear clan.

According to an eye witness said that Bear clan launch an attract to Panyuon clan on Saturday 11/8/2007 until fights end on 13/8/2007” after their long journey from Kec cattle camp to Ajanjeny cattle camps which was confirmed as fire field that left several people dead and others more injury.

The government of Lakes State had sent SPLA forces to separate the fighting of two subcommittee clan whom people of Lakes claim to have good patient of understanding among themselves in long year of civil war in Southern Sudan.

Strife left the seven (7) people dead and 12 people wounded in war action between Panyuon clan visa Bear clan. The Panyuon section lost five people dead and eight (8) people wounded including the young lady (girl) got across bullets that injury her right hand. While the Bear clan lost two people dead and four wounded.

Nevertheless, Samuel Mathiang Keer the SPLM State Secretary was at cattle camps talking to both side to immediately stopped fighting” in strong push by SPLA forces and police forces few cases are already been brought under control.

According to the nurse in charge, Mr. Mangok Riel there is no doubt to these causality who had been admitted, there condition is normal, the hospital is working hard to render sufficient treatment to those who had severe wounded “Nurse office said”

No worry here as long surgeon ward tried to remove the stuck bullet from the wounded people in their bodies. Besides it nurse officer asked relatives of the victims to be patient and allow their award children to be treated well.

In last year Lakes State governor Daniel Awet Akot had disarms all Lakes State citizens including cattle raiders’ but now few guns are already been recovered by SPLA security forces in the areas of Lakes. Speaking during Lakes State Legislative Assembly third session opening in his speech Governor Awet says that disarmament must to be continues in Lakes although our first disarmament had successful of about 4,612 guns confirm disarms and in store of SPLA somewhere in Rumbek.
