Sudanese al Bashir to hold talks with DUP chairman

May 8, 2007 (CAIRO) — Sudanese President Omar Bashir will meet during his current visit to Egypt with Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani, the Cairo-based leader of Sudan’s Democratic Unionist Party, spokesman said on Tuesday 8 May.

Hatim al-Sirr Ali told the official MENA tha the two leaders plan to meet later today to exchange views over Sudanese issues, including the situation in Darfur and the country’s democratic transformation and peace process.

Whoever the Chinese Xinhua said that Al-Merghani will try to convince Bashir to approve holding of this conference, which will group Sudan’s Umma Party leader al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, Communist Party leader Mohamed Ibrahim Nuqud, Popular Congress Party (PCP) leader Hassan al-Turabi, al-Merghani, DUP leader and Bashir as National Congress Party leader as well as Salva Kiir, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

He said Mirghani will give a dinner banquet in honour of Bashir.
