Bashir, Djibouti envoy to Sudan discusses Darfur, Somalia

Aug 17, 2006 (DJIBOUTI) — The Djibouti ambassador to Sudan, Mohamed Ali Moumin, was received in audience by the Sudanese head of state, Omer Hassan al-Beshir, at the presidential palace in Khartoum. The Djibouti diplomat was the bearer of a message from President Ismail Omar Guelleh addressed to his Sudanese counterpart.

The meeting, according to information provided by the Djibouti Chancellery in Khartoum, took place as part of consolidation of fraternal ties between the two countries and strengthening of bilateral cooperation manifested by the different cooperation agreements reached in different domains such as education, health, maritime transport and communications.

During the talks he held with President Beshir, the Djibouti ambassador paid homage to Sudan’s “positive” efforts in realizing reconciliation among its people through the implementation of the Darfur peace agreements. A national reconciliation that Mohamed Ali Moumin said will be “translated by more tangible actions not only in the east but also in southern Sudan”.

The ambassador did not also fail to mention “the exemplary gesture by the Sudanese government to host in Khartoum a Somalia reconciliation conference” that, he said with conviction, “will continue in the coming days”.
