lra mediation continue

The leader of Sudan People’s liberation Movement Salva Kiir Mayardit, has said that Government of Southern Sudan [GoSS] would continue mediating between the Ugandan government and the Lord’s Resistance Army [LRA].

He said that the GoSS was waiting for delegations from the two sides to go ahead with its mediation.

He went on to say that classifying the LRA as a terrorist organization would not deter the GoSS from pursuing their peace initiative because the LRA attacks against citizens needed to be addressed.

He added that they were parties who are accusing SPLM of providing assistance to the LRA, but he justified this as a way to try and cover up the attacks made on civilians and their belongings.

Salva Kiir also pointed out that the LRA was still causing terror in the south and that during his recent meeting with EU representatives in Uganda, he had told them that the LRA leader, Joseph Kony, was in hiding and proved this by saying that the Western countries with all their capabilities had not yet been able to find him.

He also said that the return of refugees had stopped due the LRA attacks.
