Al-Bashir affirms keenness to make unity attractive
Feb 14, 2006 (JUBA) — President Omer Al-Bashir, pointed out that the first stage for implementing the first stage of the peace project has ended by the signing of the signing of the peace agreement for south Sudan.

yes_for_peace_and_love.jpgAccording to the state-run SUNA, He further said that the remaining stage of peace necessitates ending the war in other parts of the country and removal of the war impacts.

Addressing a mass rally Tuesday in Juba, the capital of Bahral-Jabal State, al-Bashir pointed out that the implementation of the peace project requires the unity and mobilization of efforts as well as joint work of the national unity, and South Sudan Government and the states’ governments for the removal of the negative impacts of the war and paving the way for the voluntary return of the refugees and displaced people to their home areas.

He said that the government will begin establishment of development and services in south Sudan through the available capabilities and funds extended by donors, who will be asked to fulfill the commitments which they have declared at Oslo Donors’ Conference.

He reiterated the commitment of the National Congress to work together with its partner Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) to make the national unity as the attractive choice.

He stressed that the option of national unity will not be imposed by force, but should be voluntary.

The First Vice – President and President of South Sudan Government, Salva Kiir, has welcomed the visit of President Al-Bashir and described as a peace- maker.
