Feb 11, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Federal Minister of Health Dr Tabitha Butrus has announced the enforcement of the no-smoking law in all government institutions and the private sector.
During the quarterly meeting between the ministry and the media bodies today she said a no-smoking policy had been adopted by the Ministry of Health in accordance with the anti-tobacco law, which would be published in the press.
Butrus urged all other ministries to follow the example of the Ministry of Health because of the harmful effect smoking has on health, pointing out that any breach of this law would be punished.
