First Vice-President launches Al-Gaili-Port Sudan pipeline

Dec 10, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — First Vice-President Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit launched the 741 kilometre long pipeline with 12 inches in diameter for exporting petroleum products from Gaili Refinery to Port Sudan.

Kiir_.jpgThe pipeline is implemented by the Indian International Corporation for Petroleum and Natural Gas with a total cost of 194 million dollars.

Addressing celebrations organized by Ministry of Energy and Mining in collaboration with the Indian company at Al-Gaili Refinery Saturday, the First Vice-President expressed pleasure over participation in inauguration ceremony of the pipeline.

He called for achievement of peace in Darfur and eastern Sudan so as Sudan enjoys the fruits of development.

Minister of Energy and Mining Awad Ahmed Al-Gaz also addressed the celebration, saying the accomplishment was achieved two months earlier of the set time.

By completion of in this pipeline the number will rise to three oil pipelines while works in establishment of other two are underway, the Minister said.

General- Director of the Indian company addressed the celebration, praising the Sudanese-Indian cooperation in oil industry, expressing hope for more cooperation in the future.
