Protest letter to First Vice President of the republic of Sudan, President of South Sudan, Chairman and C-in-C of SPLM/A, Lt.-General Salva Kiir Mayardit

– CC: Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Major Mareng Akuei Ajou

Your Excellency:

We, the undersigned persons, are hereby writing to you this letter of protest on behalf of concerned citizens of Mading Aweil in Diaspora for the following reasons:

– Appointment of Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal
– Formation of Northern Bahr el Ghazal Cabinet
– Criteria Used in selection of cabinet

Appointment of Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal
When citizens of the New Sudan started consultations on the selection of governors for post-war South Sudan, the state of Aweil had extensively carried out this process and finally came up with a short list of which the current governor’s name wasn’t included.

However, when the announcement was made to the contrary, the citizens of Aweil didn’t oppose for two main reasons. Firstly, our governor has his inalienable right as a freedom fighter to serve and be served in his home state. Secondly, your decision was also seen as our collectively decision by default, even if we were not informed of the process; hence our collective support for the governor.

Your Excellency, the above two points prevented us to object your well-meaning decision, which brought the current governor to the tenure.

2. Appointment of Northern Bahr el Ghazal Cabinet

The formation of the above subject doesn’t represent the entire Aweil constituencies, which are more than 24 chieftainships. We know this because each one of us has a solid knowledge of people and their respective localities. If in doubt, review names and counties of each minister in the current cabinet.

3. Criteria used in selection of the cabinet

Your Excellency, we are very much concerned of encroachment of other political parties-especially the National Congress (NC) party-which might jeopardize the unity of our people, strength of SPLM, and much awaited referendum.

As committed members of SPLM, we would like see to it that the Movement’s missions and objectives are implemented accordingly. There should be “no reverse gear,” as you rightly said in your famous speech in Juba.

We remain in hope that this letter of ours reaches your very esteemed office for timely consideration.

Thanks and may God bless you.

Long Live SPLM/A!!!!

Long Live unity of people of the New Sudan!!!

Long Live unity of Aweil people!!!
