Beshir declares participation of NDA in national unity cabinet

Nov 23, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese President and Chairman of the ruling National Congress (NC), Omer al- Beshir, has affirmed success of the endeavours for participation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the national unity government.

Sudanese_President.jpgAddressing the opening session of the Second General Conference of the NC Wednesday, al-Beshir said that the NDA participation in the Government of National Unity (GNU) will boost the steps to realize national consensus.

He said that Sudan has achieved peace despite the renewed sanctions and blockade which are being imposed on it, adding that such sanctions and blockade will only increase the determination and the honest national effort in the country to realize political stability.

Al-Beshir reviewed in his address the accomplishments which were realized regarding implementation of the comprehensive peace on the ground.

He pointed out that implementation of the peace agreement began by the formation of the Presidency Institution, which handling its tasks in full coordination and harmony, and establishment of the National Legislative Authority, the most broad-based GNU in Sudan history and the Commissions for the cease-fire, Assessment, Monitoring the Federal Revenues, Petroleum, the Civil Service and the Committee for the borders.

He said that the accomplishments after the signing of the peace agreement was also followed by establishment of South Sudan Government and Legislative Authority, formulation of the constitutions for the southern states, besides the beginning formation of the northern states governments within the scope of the broad-based political participation and under the prevalent climate of national accord.
