New arrest of Human Rights activist Dr Mudawi

Yesterday, Dr. Mudawi Ibrahim Adam, Chairperson of the Sudan Social
Development Organization (SUDO) together with his friend Yasir Saleem
and the driver Abdalla Taha have been arrested in Khartoum North (near
Baraka Bank)at 11:00am. They are now held in the Security Detention of
Khartoum North.
At present, it isn’t known why Dr Mudawi, Yasir Saleem and Abdalla
Taha are detained.

On 24th January 2005, Dr Mudawi was already arrested by members of
Sudan’s National Security and Intelligence Agency in North Kordufan.
Three days after he was transferred in Khartoum and detained until the
3rd March 2005. No charges were finally pressed against him.

SUDO, as a voluntary organization created to promote sustainable
development and Human Rights, has organized a number of workshops on
subjects connected with Human Rights. It is also engaged in
humanitarian activities by providing emergency services in North,
South and West of Darfur.
