Sudanese president affirms state’s resolve to foster peace

albeshir_tete_peti.jpgKHARTOUM, May 2, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudanese President and ruling National Congress (NC) Chairman Omar al-Bashir has affirmed the government’s determination to bring about peace in the whole of the country.

He also pointed out the ongoing preparations to implement the peace agreement between the government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, SPLM.

Speaking at a meeting with the Al-Kawahala tribe yesterday evening at the National Congress General Secretariat, he said that the NC can accommodate everyone and is a party that supports monotheism and is a strong party.

He also said that the salvation government will abide by Islamic Shar’iah.

He also briefed them on the government’s performance in the recent period including the signing of the peace agreement with the SPLM, the drafting of that the of the transitional constitution had begun as well as economic and investment progress in the country.
